OT: Biggest giggapixel picture of NYC
« on: April 28, 2021, 08:36:19 PM »
I've been wasting too much time there not to share.
Earthcam has just unveiled a new record breaking gigapixel picture of New York!
From their vantage point on top of the Empire State Building, they put a camera that recorded a whopping 80 gigapixel image!
Heck, you can even see people walking on the streets of what I believe to be Queens.
You can see the shadow of people working at the World Trade Center when you look through the windows.
Heck, you can probably see Satish in his PJ's somewhere in there ;)
If you want to waste a lot of time, it's here https://www.earthcam.net/projects/empirestatebuilding/gigapixelpanorama/2021/

Wow! What film did they use?  ;)

Normally I'd object to the d*****l content, but this is pretty amazing 😁 That's Brooklyn and Jersey, no chance of seeing me in my boxers, sorry 😢

I should get out of NY now Satish. Looks like a rip in the space time continuum. It's eating the place up.

To make it a film topic I’d like to try a whole roll, 72 exposures, in my Pen F with the 100mm f3.5 mounted. Say three rows of 24 each and then stitch the negs together. That would not cover what this shot does, but it is film.

It's a bit like those "where's Waldo" books... except the little guy with the striped shirt isn't there.

One thing I find fascinating is how little roadwork there is!
In Montreal you can't go anywhere without seeing those now so hated orange cakes... :-[

Quite true.

I really should have become a cone farmer, with the number that they use, I'd be rich .
