Title: The best wedding proposal ever
Post by: Francois on January 03, 2017, 07:44:38 PM
Ahhh! Love...
It just feels so sweet when you see people who love each other.
We've all seen marriage proposals. From the over the top to the I can't believe she said yes to that horribly stupid sketch.
And then, there's this one.
This what happens when a B&W photographer goes the extra mile to do things right.

I started watching the video last night but had to turn it off after a couple of minutes - purely because of the music. It seemed okay, otherwise, so I'll give it another go tonight but with sound off.

Enjoyed the video, just muted the sound and watched it as a silent film. Doggone clever idea. I never put in that much effort in two proposals. First as a 25 year old, then 14 years later as a 39 year old widower. Both times just kinda eased into the relationship and after a while it was almost a silent understanding with the actual proposal a formality.

I noticed, at the end, he has the woman of his dreams in his arms and, what, he checks that the print is doing ok in the developing tray?  Practically speaking, this is a good move.  The print will be an important artifact of their marriage—something to treasure and bring out at their twenty-fifth anniversary.  Still, part of me wants to see them forget about the density of the print and focus only on themselves for a few minutes.  I suppose romance is only really appreciated by the experienced (aged).

As to the music, I say that it is something that he made, sincerely and, possibly, with love.  More people should make their own music.

He probably doesn't know that the print will reach maximum development at about 90 seconds and then will just stay that way.

I took everyone's advice and 'forgot' to turn on my PC's speakers when I watched this...and it made me smile a soppy smile. Nicely played, sir!

Thanks Ed!

I know when I saw this, I had this good feeling inside that I don't often get these days...

Sweet, but they look terribly young.

Or is it just me?

Well... I can't really be a judge of that. I don't know what's the average marriage age in Mexico, but since they are a very religious nation, it's probably younger than around here.

Yes, of course. Far be it from me to judge.

To be fair, I keep getting shocked when I see pictures of middle aged men and women on Facebook and realise it's my childhood friends, and I look just as worn out as they do.
