Title: The real story behind fisheye album covers
Post by: Francois on December 17, 2019, 03:49:37 PM
I just found this and it's really interesting.
It's the story of the link between the fisheye lens and album covers.

I have some of those albums.  I've always wanted a fisheye lens but the cost doesn't justify the use I would get out of it.

Another link with fisheye lenses is the story from 2011 that the footage of David Bowie performing 'Jean Genie' live on Top of the Pops in 1973 was erased by the BBC, but the cameraman operating the fisheye lens had a broadcast quality copy made for his own archive, which was apparently the only copy in existence.
