Not the first time I owned a camera, and certainly not the first time I used one, but it was the first time I had a decent brand new SLR in my hands and could go out on the street with a project in my head.
It was early November 1982, when kids were out on the streets with their Guy Fawkes 'Guys' raising money to buy fireworks.
Pentax MV, Pentax M50/2, Ilford XP1.

Fantastic little set, Sandeha.
A healthy dose of nostalgia...
I'd have been 15, and these have brought back so many memories, the shopfront especially as I was brought up above my parents' newsagent / tobacconist shop. Just the sight of the old Rothman's sign on the door... something you'd never see nowadays.
And the two lads in wellies and Harrington jackets, the must have fashion item of the time... Brilliant. Thanks for sharing these.

Thanks. While I was quite proud of these at the time, they seem to have improved with age!

Nice set Sandeha! I didn’t even know there was a Guy Fawkes Night until I saw this. Do the kids still raise money for fireworks like that? That would have been about the same time I first used an SLR.

I dare say some might somewhere but it would be a rare thing now ... maybe rare since 2000.

I think the hegemony of halloween rules the roost now for that time of year. Id be surprised though if there wasn't something in the towns with a big parade eg Lewes or Edenbridge.
