Why not start early?
Yesterday was the first time I ventured out with a camera in what seems like forever. The weather was overall gray. Not exactly inspiring but bright enough. I missed the best picture I could have taken because the lady noticed me. There was a snow covered incline and she was going up with her golden retriever at the end of the leash. Her hair was flowing in the wind. Truly magical.
Instead, I got to see a friendly field mouse, lots of snow but fairly OK weather.
Well... you gotta take what you get :)
I was shooting Arista.EDU 400 pulled to EI 250. Shutter speed was a surprisingly consistent 1/500 @f/11. If I didn't pull the film, getting anything out of this would have been really hard. Even my el-cheapo scanner I use to make my index prints was having a hard time digitizing the negs.

The early weekend thread is a great idea, François. :)
I shot some Superia 200 with my Olympus OM-1 last weekend. I'm not 100% sure whether I like the results, even though the Superia 200 renders the colours quite accurately. Maybe that's exactly why I don't warm up to that film. Anyhow, here're two shots that I like. Maybe the film and I will become friends at some point. ;)

Got a few lab scans back this week! I don't do a ton of ultra-high-glam portraiture, but C_ is a woman I met awhile back while I was doing a project on mixed race identity (she's half Hispanic), and she also happens to be a terrific model. These chairs are on the roof of the mall; I've had my eye on photographing them for awhile, so this seemed like a good opportunity. Nerd stuff: Mamiya RZ67, Sekor 110, HP5+.

Every step in that inspired process is over-the-top cool, authentic and bitchin'. This kind of esoteric knowledge in pursuit of fun and art is why film photography is so rewarding.
Oh yeah, nice shot. ;-)

Hey all, great start to the weekend! Grit, love the pictures. Cs1, that Superia 200 looks nice, too bad they discontinued it, and Bryan, that's a pretty nice quality for a print. 4x5, I'm assuming?
These two are from the same roll. Portra 400, shot a box speed, cross-processed in E6 chemistry.

It yields more "natural" colors than Colorplus 200, however, I believe I need to overexpose to get better results.

The local Horseless Carriage Club has a meet-up on the last Sunday of the year, taking advantage of almost always sunny (albeit chilly) weather that time of year.
Leica M6, Summicron 35, Kodak Gold 200
-
Lots of nice stuff as usual. I've been out in the fog.
Yashica 35 / Maco TS Eagle in Xtol
-
Fog is always a nice thing. I just love how it hides ugliness :)
-
Oh man, that first fog picture is so cinematic 8) (and actually so is the second one ;D )

Great fog shots Kai!

Thanks Jeff, I am having a lot of fun with this microscope stuff and learning a lot at the same time.
Miguel, it is 4X5 film, I’m trying to make more contact prints when I find the time, always looking to improve the quality.

The fog shot and the horseless carriage are knockout shots on this thread
This week a couple of studio portraits..... Delta 100 in HC110 I think

What are those horizontal lines in both exposures? Also, that guy kind of looks like me ;D

Ever since seeing them this morning, I keep thinking that he's missing a vertebra and needs to hold his hand with both hands so it doesn't fall to the ground ::)
I know, it kills the "romanticism" quite a bit...
But on a serious note, what I find strange is that these are usually quite feminine poses and they translate into something weird when applied to a man.
-
Great shots, grit. I'd never have guessed that they were shot on HP5+. Did you overexpose and underdevelop the film? It doesn't look as gritty as HP5+ usually does (no word play intended :) ). In any case, I like the tonality and the exposure.
Kai, the fog shots have an excellent mood, I love them, especially the second shot.

Interesting. I didn't have the same impression. I'd call the second pose "boyish" but it's still masculine. It conveys a youthful playfulness (if that makes any sense). The first one is a little unusual but then again, I think that it might fit the model's character (of course I can only guess -- but that's very likely why it's an interesting portrait in my eyes). I find it rather difficult to portrait men. Typical "men poses" that I can think of tend to be very cliché. On the other hand, if you don't pose a man at all, the portrait lacks interest. Kudos to you, Irv, for the way that you approach male portraiture, a discipline that I find very difficult.

Thanks! Shot and processed at box speed. I imagine what you’re seeing is due to the $10K+ Noritsu HS-1800 scanner at the FIND Lab in Utah, where I sent this roll. I usually scan locally or do it myself, but this time I wanted nicer scans. I did also bump the contrast I think +15 in Lightroom, but made no other modifications to the file I got back.

I'm finally dipping my toes into the Ektachrome pool, and the water's fine. :-)

Those lines are from my scanner whatever I do I can can't lose them. Maybe a bit of cloning out in Lightroom would do the trick.
I never really noticed the poses in fact I don't visualize them as male or female poses more of just stock model poses to be fair. He was/is also a dancer so I don't know has anything to do with how he holds himself

On Christmas day, I happened to be in Lisboa, hanging out on the Praça do Comércio, taking pictures of passers-by.
