First!
Yes...
The young lady was just contemplating the scenery. I tried to be discrete and it worked.
Spot metered on the back to avoid making a silhouette. I was scared I mis-measured but it turns out it it wasn't the case.

Hi, friends!

Some arches and vaults from old city of Aranjuez, near Madrid (Spain). I spent a wonderful time there last saturday with some friends that share with us the passion for photography  !!!!
We gathered twenty or more medium format cameras and a 4x5 Chamonix F1. Great time!

I was experimenting with double exposures this week.  I saw an article on this method recently so I thought I'd give it a try.  It didn't work out as well as I had hoped but it did turn out kind of trippy.  This was shot on my last sheet of New55 film from the Kickstarter so it may have been a bit out of date.  The camera was my Rex Laboratories 4x5 press camera with an Ilex No. 3 Acme Synchro shutter and an Ilex Paragon Anastigmat f:4.5 5 1/2" lens.

an odd combination of a homemade pinhole camera making a photo of a Tesla at a local charging station.

There were 4 parked here being charged today....one from California, one from Arizona and the other two were locals....
They were good subjects since it takes about 45 minutes to charge.

The exposure was 45 seconds....it all works out somehow!

At a party a few weeks ago I heard about a mythical highline in LIC, Queens, apparently not far from where I live. The location was given to me in very vague terms, as a secret of this nature should be ("find a community garden in LIC, go behind the shed, and follow the path to the highline"). In fact, I thought I knew which community garden the person was talking about, knowing my neighborhood as well as I know it :) Turns out, I was right, and the highline itself was pretty amazing, in a very overgrown, urban decay-y way. Full set here (https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10154670744862278.1073742018.539577277&type=1&l=59d41e71f4) (warning: contains d*****l images!), but here is the teaser image of the "entrance", which I made sure to make just as vague as the initial description I was given ;) Good luck to anyone who wants to find it! ;D

Bryan,

Was it, by any chance, this article from Petapixel? http://petapixel.com/2016/11/15/photographer-captures-landscapes-jars-using-analog-double-exposures/ (http://petapixel.com/2016/11/15/photographer-captures-landscapes-jars-using-analog-double-exposures/) I saw it a few days ago and it inspired me to try it out using FP-100C instant film and a Polaroid 100 Land Camera. I never did get the result I was after, but I was only willing to waste a few shots to try and dial in the initial exposure of the jar, which I wound up underexposing as you can see from the unprocessed scan on the left. The image on the right is after quite a bit of photoshop tweaking. One of the issues I had was that my light meter meters flash based on a shutter speed, not an aperture and since you never know what the shutter speed is going to be on an Automatic Land Camera there was some guess work involved. It was fun to try though.

This shot is nothing special but it's the subject of minor celebration for me.

1. It's from the first film I've scanned in about 9 months.
2. It's where I got married (San Francisco City Hall) taken 15 years after the event!

I'm going to try to get back into the habit of shooting and processing my own film, I miss it.

Oh, it's Holga on Portra 400.

Coming in under the wire. Sometimes I just notice things in the house and the light is just right to bring it out of the 'mundane' and nudge it into 'interesting'. The summer straw isn't getting much wear these days (daytime highs are barely getting above 70F!). So I decided to give it some photographic love.

Adam, that's the same article.  I also tried it with FP-100c with worse results than yours.  I'm going to give it a try with FP-3000b and see how that goes.  The key is getting the exposure right.  From the video in the article it looked like he used flash for the bottle exposure but I'm not sure exactly how he did that without getting the flash on the jar.  I'm thinking it would have to be behind the jar to totally wash out the background.  Definatelly not as easy as it looks but I'm not done trying.  Let me know if you figure anything out.

A quick Google search indicates that his book was on the "famous" highline in Manhattan, which was probably abandoned at the time he wrote the book, but is now restored and is a typical annoying tourist trap :) (except during off-off hours like Weds at 9am).

I shot mine with a Nikon SB-700 at full power through an umbrella that was fairly close to the jar, about 2 feet away I'd guess. The strobe was pointed at a slightly downward angle from about one foot above the jar and a bit to the right of it. I also had a small Neewer LED light bank about half a foot away and to the left and slightly behind to try to minimize shadow from the strobe. I may have to try this again with two strobes. I'll let you know how it goes if I do.

I also used a closeup kit on the Land Camera to get close to the jar. I would have preferred to use my 195 instead of the 100 to control the shutter speed and aperture, but I don't have a closeup kit for it.

Hey! Resident or just visiting?? I am a San Diegan (transplant) myself. The Spanish Village is rife with photo-ops, as is the whole park and zoo. Nice job with these. My only wish would be that they were a bit bigger.

I know this is supposed to be one shot per week (sort of), but I thought that my first tintype image was worth risking the wrath of the mods.

Wrath of the mods? What about the wrath of everyone else who, like Satish, sees a Vermeer and the sees IT'S YOUR FIRST ATTEMPT!  :)
Very nice by the way.

Lovely shot, James.

Why not post it in THIS, current, weekend's thread instead of last weekend's? Then it would be your only entry.....not that anyone really gets fussed about how many  ;)

What a coincidence my collodion chemicals came on friday and I'm going to build a camera next weekend to shoot with it starting with Ambrotypes though.

Jeez, so much for attention to detail. I thought I was posting in this week's thread! Well maybe by next week I'll have my second attempt and can be more on the ball. Thanks everyone for the positivity.
