Data analytics... It's what I do.

These are plots of text replies and photo replies in the weekend threads so far this year.

Does a reply with both photos and text get counted in both categories? Does a post with more than one photo still count as one post?

No, it is either a photo reply or a text-only reply.

Yes. I thought about making an entry for each reply and having metadata like number of photos and whether or not there was text, film type, camera type, etc., but it's a fully manual process. There is no Filmwasters api that I can get this data from (that I know of). I would have to download all of the replies and do some sort of indexing/searching/querying. I could probably write some R or Python code to do that. I have the interest, but not the time. :)

Unless the Simple Machines Forum engine has an API, I guess you'd be stuck doing a full crawl...

And what conclusions can we draw from these squiggly lines?

If we have access to the database then I can wite a SQL query for it...

What I want to know is the standard deviation of flower fouls per quarter.

Well, the sample is too small to hang my hat on, but I think generally, I can say that the weekend thread has more photo posts than strictly text posts. However, the margin is small (probably within +/-1 s.d.). I was a little surprised by that. I don't usually think that there is a lot of 'chatter' in those threads, but I guess there is. One of the other by-products of collecting this data was that I went back and scrolled through every weekend thread for this year. There is a lot of really great stuff in those!
