I like the race car O2Pilot.  I was having fun with my Lentar 500mm f/8 Mirror Lens on an Olympus OM-1.  The film is Ilford Delta 100 developed in Rainier Beer.  Both shot in and around Port Orchard, Washington.  Couldn't resist developing a picture of Mount Rainier in Rainier Beer.

Like the race car, Andrej--it reminds me of the famous Lartigue photo.  And I'm pleased that Bryan has found the best use for Rainier Beer.

Mine is a little graphic number shot on Ektar in the 4x5 Burke & James.

You're probably right since it is an antique car race. Besides, Caterhams never were popular around here (Though I have once seen an original AC Cobra, complete with ear muffs :) )

I haven't decided whether I like this photo, or whether I feel that I did too much to try to "save" it. It's heavily photoshopped, I actually masked out the guitar player in the middle and added some Gaussian blur because he was too in focus and distracting from the two main subjects. Then, since the entire stage was pretty evenly lit in that awful red LED lighting that clubs seem to love, I reduced the brightness and saturation on everything except the two main subjects. Advice on whether to burn the picture, my laptop, and the damn negative solicited. If there's enough interest/curiosity, I can post the original neg scan.

Put the same blur on the bass player and I think it will be better, but gaussian blur = grain reduction, so it will be very hard to make it look natural. I like the color though. I wouldn't worry too much about the guitar player distracting from the main subjects they are very dynamic and everyone else in the picture is looking at the woman singing, so that automagically draws your eye to her.

My usual trick to deal with things like that is to first do some grain reduction, then fix what's wrong in the image and then put some grain back to hide the corrections.

never use gaussian blur. It uses such a basic algorithm to blur that it doesn't match what the lens actually does at all. It can be a little finicky but use "lens blur" in photoshop. It uses a proper algorithm better suited to match actual blurs.

thanks for the encouragement, guys! not my usual style so I'm a bit unsure on how it stands.

a nice weekend so far. I can't stop looking at that mountain shot of yours, bryan. and the simplicity in Terrys own ektar shot.
also, manuell... you take the forest shots I want to take! I might have to go up in format to get what I want :D

here's another of the stairs. not as clean at all and less with the exposure but I like how the lamps from the stairs play in and the gradient effect. I might go back to see what kind of shots I can get out of that place. lots of white!
(scuze the orange/brown stain... apparently a reflection on the neg when it was digitised with a dslr)

Thanks a lot for the kind comments!
The Kiptar is a Petzval design projector lens. I bought it as cheap alternative to the original brass Petzvals. However, it seems recently people discovered that it can be good for photography and prices on ebay are increasing. Still, there should be cheap ones out there. They come in a wide variaty of different sizes. The 190mm one does not quite cover 4x5 at infinity. At portrait distance it covers 4x5.

You know, when you go to places like that with only a few quids in your pocket for lunch, it very quickly turns in a drool all you want you're not getting any type of event. But at least you get to see a lot of cool stuff.

......which is how I approached it, Francois.  I had some old Canon FD gear that wasn't seeing any use and I had a couple of things I wanted - if I could find them and the other guy was prepared to consider a trade.  It worked perfectly.  I traded my Canon gear for a Nikon 85mm f1.8 AF-D, a Vitamatic II (as per the photo) and a load of film. Nett "loss" on the trades amounted to about £10.  Good result.

Then my missus picks up the SW/C and says "haven't you always wanted one of these...?" and proceeds to buy it for me.  I'm not complaining (far from it) but I was looking to consolidate the amount of kit I have rather than add another Hasselblad to the collection.
