I don't know if those of us who ordered an Ondu pinhole have all read their mail from kickstarter but there's finally some real god news!
They've finally begun shipping the cameras!
I'm really excited and hope it won't be slowed down by the mail or customs.
Now, I really need to get me a lighter tripod just for this one :)
-
I'm pleased that yours is on it's way. I went for the 5x4 and there is no date for those yet, as understandably, they wanted to get the smaller formats out of the way first.
It's been a long wait, but I think the guys have had a pretty tough time sorting out the logistics and business side of things.
Anyway, in the UK, I think a 5x4 pinhole is a summer camera, rather than a winter one.
-
I don't blame you, I can't see myself trying to handle some DDS in sub-zero temperatures.
But since they say that the 4x5 is easier to build and that they didn't sell as many of them as the 6x6, my guess is that it could be surprisingly fast to produce.
-
I got that email too. Now I'll be watching the mailbox like a little kid watching for Santa Claus on Christmas Eve ;)
-
Me too. Hopefully shipping will be relatively fast as I don't know how long I can keep jumping up and down ;D
I wonder if they'll send tracking numbers?
-
My 135 Pano has just arrived!... have just posted a pic of it on the 'Just picked up...' thread.
Am very impressed with the quality of the camera, the packaging, instructions and everything else that comes with it. ;D
-
Nice one! If anyone's going to wring every last drop of quality out of this camera, my money's on you. Happy (early) Birthday, BTW. What's the "official" date?

You're too kind Paul... it's tomorrow BTW ;)
-
A very happy birthday to you!
Now talk about perfect timing...

My 6*6 / 6*9 / 6*12 multi-format Ondu pinhole arrived today - FP4 now loaded and ready to go.

That's good to know. That's the format I ordered.

My guess is that you'll have yours soon, because guess what lovely surprise I found when I got home today!?
Oh, it's just gorgeous! And you need to smell it, too. The wood is so beautiful and smooth. It feels like much more of a finished product than their first round, which were already very pretty and good, but just "quirky." ;)
-
I'm a little bummed I didn't get in on this one.
-
If its already in NY it means mine can't be too far!
I guess that when Slvr will get his, mine won't be too far away (he lives closer to the main depot than I do).
-
haven't seen anything yet. I did order a 6x6. From my understanding they will be sending those out later? Has anyone else gotten a 6x6?

That's mine in the picture above.

So they are on the way...
It's a bit crazy but after all this waiting, it's the last few days that I find to be the most excruciating!
-
Got a notice from the post-office yesterday. Hope to be able to pick it up tomorrow.
-
You lucky...
-
Woo-hoo! Just got the mail saying the 6x12 Multiformat I ordered last Friday has just been shipped!
-
Here's one from my first roll with the Ondu:

That was off the 6x6 pocket?
How did it feel usage wise?

The model I have is the 6*6 / 6*9 / 6*12 multiformat. I've only had it a few days and put one film through so too early to give an overall judgement. The only aspect I'm not so keen on is the wooden shutter because (a) I wasted the first shot on the roll by just playing with it after I loaded the film and (b) there is a theoretical possibility of causing camera shake when releasing the shutter.
I did prefer the release on my Holga WPC pinhole which took a cable release, but that camera was flimsy and is no longer made.
-
I have the same shake problem with my Diana multi-pinhole and the solution I adopted is to use my left hand to shade the pinhole while I open the shutter with the right one. It's just enough to prevent shake and still stay invisible.
I do the same when I close it.
-
I have a parcel at the post office, been there a few days. It can only be 1 thing :)
-
You better fetch it before they send it back ;D
-
i think i might go home tonight. Perhaps I'll have something nice waiting for me. Anyone get a 6x6 know how big the box was? Was it something that could fit in a mailbox?
-
If you do get it, let me know!
If you get yours one day, I'm pretty sure I'll get mine the next.
As for the size of the mailbox, I know it won't fit in mine as the mailman sometimes has a hard time stuffing more than a couple of #10 envelopes in mine.

They're quite well packed i.e. a box within a box + padding, I doubt it would fit in a mailbox.

Good to know. How it works here is if you miss the delivery then they leave you a slip and you can pick up the package the next day. not the same night. Which I think is kind of stupid especially since most of the time you want your stuff!
-
Mine arrived today, now all I need is some nice weather as it's been rather wet around here today.
-
This thread reminds me that I haven't yet received mine. Glad that others are still getting theirs, otherwise I'd start to think something had gone awry. I shall wait patiently and wonder in the meantime which camera of theirs I actually ordered. It's been so long that I've forgotten.
-
I think it was the 4x5... they said that these ones would ship after all the "popular" models...
-
Collected mine today, loaded with film, battery in the light meter, exposure chart in wallet :)
Sadly it will be a few days before I can actually use it, but it's nice to have the option
-
It came!!!
-
Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes!
I'll be waiting on the front steps tomorrow morning! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
I did my happy dance... so you all know what this means ;)
-
I've got mine loaded up with some Acros. Maybe I'll get a chance to play with it.
I did find the loading a little weird. Im so used to 120 going left to right, not right to left the way they have it to properly orient the backing paper.
-
I must admit that it's so un-holga-esque :)

I played a bit with mine and found that the wood on the shutter had swelled a bit in transport due to changes in relative humidity between Slovenia and Canada. If you look inside the camera, you will see the rightmost screw. This one is attached to the shutter. On mine I had to loosen it by about 1/10 th of a turn to get the shutter to run smoothly. Now it just clicks in and out of place very easily.
-
Took mine out for a play today, at a park with my boy, even more strange looks than usual....
Shutter needs adjusting, and I think even on an overcast day iso 200 film was a bit fast so I just played with exposure.
See how the next few weeks go, if my darkroom is not looking likely to be finished I may send the film out, just to see how it looks
