: Show us your camera families
: Francois January 27, 2016, 06:22:23 PM
While looking at the just picked-up thread, I saw that a bunch of us posted pictures of our TLR's. And for some reason, those pictures made me think of those family snapshots we all have in our albums. So I had the idea of showing my very own TLR family.

So, the rules are simple. Assemble some cameras that look like they could have come from the same family, put them in a family portrait setting and take a shot.
I'm not looking at sets of cameras from the same brand, that would be too easy/hard, but rather extended families. Just make up your own story about how they should relate to one another...

Here's my TLR family :)
Yashica-A, Lubitel 166U (Russian version), Yashica-Mat, Meopta Flexaret II, Recesky and Blackbird Fly.

Hmmm, the Blackbird Fly (on the far right?) looks a little suspicious. Maybe a Yashica slept with the milkman? :D

Well, you know, there's always a red haired kid in the family...  ;D
I guess the parents didn't know that they were both carrying the same Chromosome 16  8)

I think I've posted this one before, but if it's family you want, it's family you'll get.

Nice idea to take a family snapshot of the view cameras.  Here's the Surveyor II and the Neretta Rail, both from 2012, and the little 6x7 Garden camera from 2003.

I was going to say that I don't have any camera families ... But it turns out that this isn't the case anymore. :-X I will take pictures of my collections when I find the time.

Here it is. A Lubitel shot on FP-100C with a Polaroid Automatic 100 Land Camera.  Wish I had more time to devote to it. I originally wanted to do it as a true double exposure, but time constraints forced me to take two shots on FP-100C and composite in Photoshop. But it is film! And cheesy.

Based solely on this thread, and absolutely nothing else, I decided to gather my Leica Thread Mount "family" together for a photo. This turned out to be a serious mistake, as it made me more painfully aware of the size to which my collection has grown than I have been in some time. I blame all of you. Who do I send the therapy bills to?

Poor little Ruski shoved back behind the tall kids!

Very nice collection, but that's a lot of time spent unscrewing and screwing on lenses. It's called a bayonet mount! Look it up!!  Therapy session concluded. ;D

The Russki is shy and has a mild inferiority complex around the Leicas and Canons.

It's not as much time spent screwing (and unscrewing, but that's less funny) as you might think. Some of those lenses don't see a lot of use, and often I'll just go out with one body and one lens. And not for nothing, but your version of therapy would have me buying MORE stuff. That's not helping. At all.

And these are mine, upon the kitchen table:

You can see the Technika III —rangefinder not working but, otherwise, in perfect shape— and its three lenses: Angulon 6.8/90mm, Ysar 4.5/150mm and Caltar II 6.8/210mm, then is my Isolette III fitted with an Apotar 4.5/85mm and finally my Retina Ia and its Xenar 2.8/50mm.

For me also, a painful realization when I assembled the cameras in order to contribute to this thread. Note, however, that I have a strong will: no OM SLRs. Missing is a 35-S under repair.

Herewith the Pentax family.

There are a couple of other lenses with the same mount but these are the branded ones.

I've had an MV, an MEF and a P30t as well as a couple of Spotmatics in the past, but the only one I'd like back again is the MZ-S.

I've had a few minutes to photograph some of my cameras. Last year I was really doing good at downsizing my collection. But it seems like I've had a relapse this year. ;) So here are my Minolt manual focus cameras and my Canon EOS gear. If I find then time I'll also take a picture of my Bronica gear and my toy cameras.  ::)
