Title: Trapped.
Post by: limr on August 03, 2015, 01:03:08 AM
There's something really satisfying about working through some issues with a camera!

These two were seen in the Weekend Thread:

And here's some more of my ersatz therapy.

Nice! Really gives the feeling of being trapped  :o Kind of dark, really :-\

Thanks, Satish! Yeah, a bit dark but as I said, I had some stuff to work out :)

The more I look at this series, the more I love it. And the more I'm creeped out by it (the two, love and creeped-out, go hand-in-hand with this series). Could be illustrations for the 15th International Conference on Mental Illnesses, or stills from a Stephen King movie, or photos taken by really any character in The Shining :o

I hope you succeeded in working your issues out  :-\ ??? :o :)

Thank you again! It's a real compliment to know you are coming back to look again :)

(And yes, the issues are being worked out :) )

Very thought provoking, both as a series and as individual images.

For me, "Sky" is the standout image here. What a brilliant graphic composition.
I really like the perfect allignment of the vent grilles at the right hand edge of the frame.
Without an obvious scale or aspect, the offcentre placement of the skylight looks like an abstract painting on a gallery wall.

Superb... I love it.

Filmwasting as therapy... should be on repeat prescription... Happiness at f2.8

Thanks so much! I often said to myself that photography helps me express myself when words aren't doing the trick, but is it really? Or have I just been going for pretty or what caught my eye? Was I expressing what I was feeling or trying to distract myself from it? So I wanted to be more deliberate about really expressing myself. It really did feel therapeutic, and it's nice to know I was able to convey a feeling through the images.

Maybe I should start a new pop therapy fad and call it the "F2.8 Cure" ;)

Excellent work Leonore. I'll bet there are more than a few of us who use photography as a therapeutic tool. Being creative, whether drawing, or working wood, or making a pinhole camera or taking photos is like a massage for your soul.

My favorite of these is Window. The window is open the curtains are drawn, but the observer is standing back in the dark, focused on the trees beyond. It definitely evokes a metaphor for different times in our lives. It is beautiful and very well executed.

Thanks for sharing.
