: Impossible help, please!
: zapsnaps March 10, 2015, 05:36:36 PM
I bought some Impossible film. Quite a lot, actually. I tried some the other day and the integral battery had died. Drat. Opened another packet. Ditto. As there are any number of tinkerers on here, does anybody have any ideas as to how I can use the packs of film if the batteries are dead?

Many thanks in advance.

You could find someone who has some packs with good batteries and reload them with unshot film. I may have a couple kicking around I could send your way if shipping isn't ridiculous. Which is likely will be. Because you know, canada post.

The contacts in your camera may need to be cleaned.  Even if you don't see corrosion on them they may have enough to cause a problem.  If you have a volt meter you can check the battery in the pack.

I think Bryan's advice is very good, check you contacts. I have never experienced a flat battery on these films, and I have been through quite a few. In fact I used to return the batteries from used packs to Impossible for re-use, but they have stopped this due to cost. If you need batteries I have a lot of them, I use them to feed my Polaroid battery radio.  :)

If all else fails, you can always rig an external power source (6 volts) and use thin strips of copper or even aluminum foil to get the power inside the camera without heavy mods.

Thanks for all the tips.

I'll clean the terminals and if that doesn't work, try the external 6v battery option.

if it turns out that the batteries are at fault, you should be able to get new ones from impossible. their service have been great whenever I've had any problem.

yeah if these are new packs from them or an accredited seller just send them back, although it would be surprising to have 2 new packs with dead batteries so worth checking contacts etc or trying in another camera.

good luck it's great film when you get the hang of it...
