: Larry Sultan's "The Valley"
: hookstrapped February 27, 2015, 08:24:20 PM
I've been a big fan of Larry Sultan's photos of his parents in their home, but really didn't know much else about his work.  Then this came across my tumblr feed and I was blown away.

NSFW

It's worth viewing the whole book in the vimeo video full screen.  The color, composition, subject matter and how he portrayed it.  Masterful.

Hmmm "photos of his parents in their home" that rings a bell. I wonder if that's an exhibition I saw at The Photographers' Gallery in London some years ago? Let me go ask the Internet...

(35 minutes - and many wonderful photos - later)

Nope, evidently not, but that series is great. Love his work in general; seems familiar. I must have come across him somewhere already.

Well, here is "The Valley" from his site -- lots better than looking at that vimeo of the book (still NSFW)
