I figured I'd start this up seeing as I am unable to sleep and have been inactive here for a while. I've been uninspired due to poor weather so I haven't been shooting much recently  :-[

I haven't been shooting much lately too, but as I live in the northern Adriatic there were a few sunny days.  :)

More street shooting out and about in Colchester for me. I photographed this guy mainly because I was amused by how blatantly he was checking out a couple of teenage girls as they crossed the road.

Love that tree shot Utopia and TK's Syan-oh-type is very trippy!  I shot these last weekend with my Kodak No. 2A Brownie Model B box camera using expired 116 film.  I purchase the film on eBay over a year ago, all I know about the film is the seller rated it at I.S.O. 21, use by 3/92 and it's black and white.  I rated it at I.S.O. 12 and Semi-Stand developed in Rodinal 1-100 for 1 hour.

the actual print looks much better than the scan of the print. The paper became too uneven after longer soak time in the coffee. harder to scan properly, have to flatten it out maybe.

Beautiful colors!

Thanks, though I can't really take credit. I was a bit surprised, in fact, given that it was taken with a very simple P&S, but I'm coming to understand that Superia (at least the 200-speed) can produce quite saturated colors if the exposure is just right and the glass has modern coatings; I never get this look with older lenses.
: Re: Weekend 27th - 30th February
: Indofunk February 28, 2015, 02:27:34 AM
I'm finding (in the one or two times in my life that I run straight CN film through C41 chemistry :P ) that 200 speed film is indeed superior (superia?) to 400 speed film. Haven't really noticed quite the same distinction with B&W film.

Then of course there's the whole question of how film is rated. I still imagine a few old geezers in a room, shooting a new film at 6 different speeds, processing them, and saying "eh, I think this one's the best. You?" :D

My first attempt at an emulsion lift. My initial thought was "So that's how you screw up a perfectly good instant print" but afterward I realized that there is promise for future attempts. I'd like to use a more textured paper and work on my technique so that I can get the emulsion to adhere to the paper flatter and without the edges rolled up. Also, I think if I use multiple emulsions with lots of light areas (clear on the emulsion) I could do some cool layering. We shall see.

Nice!

Curling edges is a major PITA, but I've found that using brushes and sort of pushing at the rolled up edge helps get it uncurled and lying flatter. Are you using gel medium? I also found that I can use my fingers to hold the edges a bit. Keep the fingers wetted, though, so they don't stick to the emulsion and tear it.

As for me this week...well, things went very well with the yanking of the wisdom teeth. The surgery itself felt like it was really fast, though in real time it was a bit longer. I was vaguely aware of moments here and there, and when I came out from sedation, I wasn't nearly loopy enough to make for an entertaining YouTube video, so sorry to disappoint ;) Okay, so I started dancing in the pharmacy while waiting for my prescriptions, but to be fair, I do that anyway. Same for the slight giggling fit.

Though I feel much more energetic today, I've been pretty wiped out since the surgery, so no new developing has taken place. I'll have to wait a bit more to post my Red Feb pictures. In the meantime, here are two that I shot in November but just this weekend cleaned up and tweaked. Minolta Maxxum 7000 and Kodak Gold 200. (Satish, I too find myself liking 200 ISO color films better than 400!)

Thanks. Yes, getting the emulsion to actually fit was a breeze but controlling the curl was indeed a pain. I asked the curls nicely, I tried bribery, threats, everything I could think of. No, I didn't use gel medium I tried using mod podge, but I've got some gel medium on order so that's what I'll use going forward.

And I hope you feel better soon.

Leonore, I (and many other people I'm sure) have taken that exact "SUBWAY" picture before! It's my local N train, and that's the stop that I get out at to go to Central Park ;)

Here's mine, not very good, but my first shot off of Urban's Holga WPC. I gotta get used to framing this, I think I should tilt it up more to get more sky. I also did that thing where I tried calculating the exposure based on F-stop, then tried a random exposure based on Holga's "recommendations", which tended to be 2-3 stops higer than my calculated time, and found that overexposure is generally better (I think that's a truism for negative film, right?). So from now on, with this camera I'll try to err on the overexposure side. With multiple-second exposures, that's not hard to do!

I had a chance on Saturday to go shooting but unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate. I wanted to go to downtown San Diego and do  some Street photography  shooting as soon as I made it there the weather wasn't cooperating a few sprinkles but the lighting seem perfect. So I went back home and my wife and friends want to go out wine tasting in Temecula so I decided to bring my camera.
On my way back from San Diego I got a little bit hungry and decided to stop at  In & Out  for some of the best cheeseburgers known to man.
