Hey, I am the new addition to the wasters. I'm Dima from Toronto, up in Canada. Shoot film only, a lot of street and some fine artsy. Mostly shoot into the windows, especially if there are people reading behind them. Don't ask why. I follow the light; obsessed with shooting, but not wasting film (pun intended)... very selective. I use medium format only, primarily a Mamiya C220 TLR and now also Pentax 67 occasionally. Recently acquired a Hasselblad 500c/m, enjoying it so far. I have had a couple of exhibits locally and internationally, some publications, but mostly from digital days long gone.
My most recent stuff is usually on FLICKR (https://www.flickr.com/photos/potatoeye/)
Curated collection can be found on my WEBSITE (http://scapevision.carbonmade.com/)
Looking forward to joining the discussions.

Wow!
One more member from TO!
You guys are definitely getting that film vibe on :)
And a big canuck welcome to you.

Welcome, Dima. Looked up your photos on Flickr and I like what I saw. :)
-
Welcome Dima, great stuff on your web site!

Hello again...!! Love your website - especially "serenity".
The more I shoot, the more selective I try to be. I'm also trying to get my head around shooting more "themes" rather than just random shots.
Anyway, great to have you here and looking forward to seeing more of your work.

Dima, welcome from San Diego. I don't "do" street, but I like to look at it. Your photostream is very good. Looking forward to seeing your stuff here on FW!

Thanks guys. Actually another member local to TO drew me into this...

I love the "into the window" shots! I've tried to do that and have met with extremely limited success. Any tips?

Know your light
Scout out locations
Think over the scene you see
Consider reflections
Blend with the scene
Can't think of anything else really. Light is probably key here (another pun). Don't run away if the person spots you, just keep shooting.

Those are great suggestions! In particular, I never scout out scenes, I just see a window shot that looks interesting and I take it. I should definitely do some scouting and/or returning to places I like.

yeah, it's interesting how similar my process is to landscape photography. maybe because it's where I started. I am sure there are other ways, but taking the time has worked for me.

Welcome from the UK. I don't do as much street a I did way back, I am a TLR fan though and learned my craft on a C330.

Another UK welcome Dima!
