Having got back into photography well past my 20s, I was never tempted by the delusion that snapshots of my friends could be anything more than snapshots of my friends.

This sounds like it was going to be an interesting post, but you got interrupted, Brian. Am I right, or have you said all you're going to say on the matter?
;D

I've ha this in the back of my head a lot recently. because yeah, I see this a lot and sure.. some artists have worked that way with just documenting reportage style but with focus on lifestyle. to me it seems like something from the 60's 70's that's coming back. but I'm not all familiar with the emergence of photography as an art form around the world...
but to sum it up, yeah.. a lot of youngsters are photographing with themselves and those around them as the main subject matter.

The recommendations of suggestion-bots on the various websites I frequent remind me how far out of the popular mainstream I have come to be. Thankfully, my grandchildren are out there with me, and I regard that as a sign of hope.
