Hey all, first time posting to the forum and figured I'd introduced myself before I go stomping around threads and such.
I'm from the lovely (And cold) city of Boston. I've been shooting film for about 10 years, have left behind the digital world and 100% analog for the last couple of years.
My work is evenly split: 1/3rd collodion, 1/3 medium format, 1/3 large format (mainly 8x10).
Terrible printer, always room for improvement and growth! Looking forward to meeting new folks. I'll attach a few image of myself and the toys. My work can be found at daniel-duarte.com

Hey Becky,
Great to see you here! Always nice to see a familiar face. I have Randy making me this sweet little "hobo" 4x5. Should be fun to play with. I used the lens I picked up for the Wanderlust Kickstarter that is looking like will never be delivered.

I was just in Boston last week! My parents live in Foxboro, so I'm there every so often. Will be back over Christmas.

Hi Daniel!
A big Canadian welcome to you.
Last time I was in Boston was before the Central Artery Project... and I managed to get stuck twice in the same tunnel in the same afternoon!
Don't ask me how I managed to do that... there was a strange feeling of déjà vu :)

Always enjoy Montreal and the GTA area as well

Welcome Daniel. Looking forward to seeing your stuff. I am down at the opposite corner of the country in San Diego where Old Man Winter is really settling in now. It looks like it may not even get into the 70's today and in all likelihood will rain at some point!! Post something snowy so we southerners don't start feeling sorry for ourselves. ;)

I lived in Boston for a good part of the big dig ... and I certainly got stuck in the same (wrong) tunnel, same (wrong) direction, same (wrong) lane, dozens of times in a row on the same day! :D

Welcome Daniel, looks like it won't be long before there is a Boston meet up

Satish,
You were in Foxboro??? I was in Mansfield.

Well, on any given day you can possibly be in any country in the world, so that is quite a coincidence. You're like the Schrodinger's cat of FW :D

Hi Daniel!
Welcome to the group! I hope you don't get run out of Boston for that 'go habs' comment. Whilst a Canuck, I am of the age that were a lot of Bobby Orr jerseys worn in the school yards of Southern Ontario when I was a kid!

I was in Mansfield yesterday but Mansfield Nottinghamshire :D

I grew up going to MTL as a kid... Always loved the atmosphere of the forum. I'm 29 so I missed the "glory days"..

Yes, yes, I know we stole all our names from you :-\ including, of course "New" England :D

Except I think you'd be hard pressed to find a Poughkeepsie there ;)
Since we're talking about near misses, Satish, I was in Queens today! Okay, just picking up my mother from LaGuardia, but still ;D
Oh yeah, and welcome Daniel! Boston's not that far from NY, so I imagine there could be some sort of a road trip at some point...*strokes beard in thought* *realizes she doesn't have a beard* ...
-
NY to Boston is a breeze! Let's make it happen Captain.
Strokes beard, because he has one.

I can see LaGuardia from my apartment roof. Don't let this happen again >:(

Another warm welcome Daniel from another GB FW :)
-
Welcome Daniel. I've only been to Boston once but really liked it, great city. Caught a train to New York from there as well, easy trip.
-
Sorry! :( I was already punished: rush hour traffic, rain, dark, not to mention my mother in the car (who at least has finally stopped telling me how to drive!) ;D

What format is everyone shooting? Always love opening Pandora's box of photography.

Anything film, on second thoughts - not everything, but at least:
135 colour and b/w
120 (6x6, 5x9, 6x12, 6x17, 6x24), also both chromatic and not
4x5 film (and hopefully paper soon)
Polaroid, pack and instax
127 when I can get it
And maybe 5x7 in the not too distant future
Would not count out 126 if I it comes back
-
Mostly 35mm, but also a fair bit of 120 (6x4.5 and 6x6)
I've got a pinhole camera that takes 4x5 and I've only used Harman Direct Positive in that so far, but since that's still in low supply at the moment, I'll probably switch to sheet film at some point.
And instant. I adore my Land Camera 100 and also have a Fuji Instax 210 (wide).
-
I'm mostly doing 35mm, not because I especially love the format (though it has definitely grown on me over the years), but mostly because of the cost.
I also love the Instax wide. I also occasionally shoot some 6x6 and have some 4x5 gear I need to start using.

I have been to New York Lincolnshire :D it's only a small village
-
I shoot pretty much everything but 35mm, the format just never stuck with me. I think it had more to do with the fact that early on I didn't have access to a darkroom and so I felt consumer grade flat beds did a terrible job with 35mm. I also could never finish a 24 / 36 frame roll. I'm lost too selective. I finally settled on a walk around camera, a Fuji GF670W.

I shoot exclusively 35mm :P Although I will be getting a WPC120 from Urban in the next few weeks/months, so I'll start to dip my toes into 120 film (shot a few rolls of 120 on a borrowed pinhole a year or two ago, but that was before I started developing at home).
-
I've got a bunch of cameras from 35 to 8x10. I still shoot 35 when I'm travelling but mostly these days I shoot 127 (street) and 120 or 5x7 (landscapes and closeups).
-
Hello from Munich, Germany. I'll have to check if there's a Munich close to Boston. IIRC there are a few in the US. ;)
I shoot both 35mm and 120, and should the Travelwide be ever delivered, then I'm going to shoot 4x5, too. But for 2015 I'm toying with the idea of just shooting with one lens, camera, and film stock.
-
Well, whaddya know (https://www.google.com/maps/place/Berlin,+MA/)... just when I was abut to post that most of the German town names would be in the Midwest...
-
Welcome welcome welcome. I shoot everything from 110 (though rarely) up to 4x5 (not so rarely).
-
I shoot mostly 35mm and 120 now and again and a bit of digital with a Sony A7

The A7 interested me but I just enjoy the analog process, something about sitting in LR and processing doesn't do it for me. It's exponentially more convenient though.

It is a nice camera I can use my Leica mount lenses and it feels like a film camera and the shots have a bit of a film feel

And we also have a few here in Canada. Like Paris (Ontario), London (Ontario), Cornwall (Ontario) and La Guadeloupe (Québec)...

I used to live in Cornwall

Ha, there's a Cornwall-on-Hudson in New York! ;D

The "-on-Hudson" part makes it so much more Old World :-*
