A couple of Autumn sunsets. Here in San Diego, fall colors are mostly brown, as in "everything has dried up and died". The sky is still blue though.

I've been having a very slow week in terms of shooting. This one isn't a good shot, but I am amazed by how perfectly the reflected treeline lined up with the treeline in the background. This is also a great example of how bad the parallax can really be on the rollei 35 when you don't know how to properly compensate for it.

Very nice! Especially like Sapata's prints and Fluminian's boat shot this week.
-
What an excellent turnout! Like a visit to a really good gallery. And great to have Mauricio back.
-
Wow, there is a lot of really good stuff in here already. Donkey Dave's pond is very nice, as are Fluminian's boat, KevinAllen's color landscape, hookstrapped's dude on motorcycle, and BAC1967's McClellan Butte. I continue to be impressed by the diversity and quality of photographs that get posted in these weekend threads.
I'll be back with something later today or tomorrow. Got to go develop the roll I shot yesterday and see if anything worthwhile came out, otherwise it's back into the archives.

I love Sapata's print(s?)! How did you do that?
Another fave is Kevin's "beauty and decrepitude" shot :)
-
Gary, I love that last one of the sunlight through the trees. And Dave's pond shot is killing me! (Also nice to see the rare selfie! :) )
From me this week is an old photo that I've just discovered as I was searching for a different image in my files. This was probably one of the first pictures I took with the Mamiya 645 about 8 years ago. I hadn't thought of those pictures in years - so many of my first efforts were...not good. I just didn't "get" that camera at first. So I almost never look at those early rolls, but once in a while when I do, I realize that some of them actually weren't that bad. Here's one that just needed a little bit of contrast adjustment. Pretty sure it was Tri-X.
-
Nice to see a selfie that is not off an iphone! Dave, I might have to stop complementing your photos, ;) as it is becoming too frequent of an activity, but once again, your stuff inspires me.
Sapata, that image looks lovely, fluminian, the light in the water is really cool and gary I like the three windows (or is that 'tree windows).
I have been playing with my first roll of Delta 3200 (shot at ISO 3200) and really screwed up my exposures. They were really under. I was shooting at EV3 and 4 and clearly was in too dark of settings. I have another roll and I am going to bracket stuff and take notes. Probably the closest to something usable:

I have some portra I might be able to scan this weekend, so I may be back ;)
-
OK, since everything is covered with snow here at the moment, rather than wait to see if something decent comes from the roll of B&W I have waiting to be scanned, I feel like posting something a bit warmer and more colorful from a few weeks ago. Pentax SFX, Pentax M-SMC 200/4, Fuji Superia 200.
(https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8617/15280617333_405fd22e84_c.jpg) (https://flic.kr/p/phiaax)
-
mcduff, the first roll i shot in my "triumphant return to film" (ie, hadn't shot film in about 20 years and knew f**k-all about it) was delta 3200, at 3200. It came out really under as well. I believe in reading about it that it's 400 or 800 film, but *can* be shot at 3200 and pushed. But i don't know, as i haven't tried delta 3200 since then :D
-
Hi Indofunk!Lumen print it's made by putting an object straight onto the photographic paper and let the sun do the whole work for you :) After a couple of hours (depending on how intese the sun is), it can go straight to a weaker solution of fixer.
-
Nice shot 02!
While my father might be turning in his grave, I'm an unpatriotic Canuck and Rye is not my favorite Whisk(e)y. It and bourbon are too sweet for my tastes. (Irish is as sweet as I like it.) But this was not too bad, and is now gone ;)

Are you talking about the uneven tone at the top edges? If so, that looks like bromide drag to me.
-
How was it processed ? You usually get that from insufficient agitation

Yeah, looks like bromide drag (from insufficient agitation).
Repeat-post Indo signing off :D

Thanks for the advice guys. Never come across this previously.
The film used (Ilford XP2 Super / processed in C41) was processed by a "High Street" lab. The unevenness isn't evident on every photo - just some - and the strength of the effect varies from quite pronounced to slight. There's also some blotchiness on the main part of some of the negs. I'm not sure whether the processing machine has an issue with agitation but I'm going to run another roll through the camera and have it processed elsewhere to see if the problem is, indeed, bromide drag (not disputing it for one minute) or whether there's also some issue with light traps.

Are you sure they did it in C-41? Is it possible they saw B&W and did it in traditional chemistry instead? Hard to imagine how you could get bromide drags in a mini-lab (I'm assuming that's what they use for C-41), since they seem to run the film horizontally, not vertically like in a daylight tank.

Wow, there's some great work here!
Mauricio - good to see you back and I love those that shot. Lovely to see some colour 127 action Terry, is that respooled 35mm?
-
Paul - I just spotted the shots from our Olympic walk (see what I did there)! ;D I finally got my colour films off to the lab so hopefully I'll have some to show next week.

Another weekend, another load of inspirational images from the filmwasters...
Love the highlights in the foreground of Fluminian's shot.
Andrej's "coffee time" is stunning, as is DonkeyDave's pond.
My efforts this week, a walk along the south bank of the Thames, ending up at Westminster Bridge.
The kids decided to go light and share the digicompact (hence the "chimping"). I also decided to go light with the XA.
Both Olympus XA, Ilford HP5+ in D-76.

Definitely C41 - it's all they have on the premises. If I want "traditional" B&W, they have to send the film off to be processed as so few people want such film processing these days - so it's not economically viable for them to process anything other than C41.

Film shot in summer. Finally got it into darkroom.

Hi Nigel--that's full-frame 46mm Portra from Frugal Photographer. I guess he bought it in bulk from Kodak and spooled it himself. I've got a roll of expired NC in the fridge (46mm) that I've got to spool and shoot too.
