Title: Wai Wai - 17mm Disposable Reload - It Works!

35mm format, 17mm wide-angle lens, mirror on the front for self-compositions... What a device! Thanks for the tickler, I dragged out my  Wai Wai, a roll of my fave B&W C41 XP2 Super and tackled the reload process. The YouTube movie shows how easy it is:

Thanks for this, Mark.

I've been thinking for a while about creating another sub-board called 'Articles' or something where we can permanently store all of the tech tips like this and other info previously posted to the original blog. Start subjects here so that they get the right exposure and benefit from discussion/comments and then move them to the other board after say a month?

Sound sensible?

the toughest part is a the end in the dark. i shot step by step for my blog awhile ago, but never got around to writing it up.

Luckily, it turned out better than when I tried to reload a Fuji panoramic in the mid 90's... For their disposables, they used a special 35mm cassette that had "teeth" inside the hub of the take-up spool... Put a standard cassette and the advance wheel simply slips...

This I loaded in daylight, as you can load the cassette, then un-connect the advance wheel, then with a little door opened crank the film... Hopefully in subdued light it did not leak too much... Off shooting with it today. So we shall see!

are there other instructions on line for re-loading other disposable cameras? i know it's possible as eons ago when i worked in a lab my co-workers used to do it instead of sending the cameras back. but i can't recall what they actually did to them. anyone?

It would depend on their config. Some you have to really mash to get apart, others I imagine would be similar to the Wai Wai. Speaking of which, the reload of which appears to have worked rather nicely. Loaded in subdued light, not a whiff of a leak (pity on one account perhaps).
