Theme: "When Things Stop"

There is no right or wrong in a Filmwasters collab. You can be as literal or as lateral as you wish when interpreting the theme, but please take time to include a sentence or two about how your submission relates to the theme.
There is no 'time served' rule with these collaborations so don't worry if you only registered with us a week ago. Join in. The work we receive is always diverse and high-quality and the more people that get involved, the better the resulting gallery will be. So load up you cameras and get wasting film (and/or paper, glass, chemicals, tin, liquid light etc.).

Submission Deadline: Sunday, 26th October 2014

Basic requirements:
JPEG Requirements: One JPEG image. Not larger than 800 pixels in length or width. No more than 200kb.
PLEASE include ONLY your name in the image file (e.g. "Roddy Nal.jpg") as this really helps reduce the time it takes to assemble the gallery.
**ALSO INCLUDE**
1. A sentence or two about why you chose this particular photo.
2. The camera, process and/or type of film used.
3. Your website or blog address that you'd like listed.
EMAIL SUBMISSIONS to filmwasters [at] gmail.com (please write "When Things Stop" in the subject field so we can find them easily in our overflowing mail box).

Two points in addition to the above post:
- Sorry for sending out 2 emails. I got a minor detail wrong the first time, so thought it best to send out a corrected copy. No big deal either way as the important stuff is the same in both emails.
- Please take special note of the section above highlighted in red as a lot of people still get this wrong after 7 years. Also, please use the name that you want to appear on your page in the gallery, not a different name which involves you then emailing me and asking to have it changed after the fact.
Good luck, people. Have fun and please do not let the title put you off. On one level it's actually very simple to make this apply to any photo you've ever taken. You're clever, you'll work that one out.

On one level it's actually very simple to make this apply to any photo you've ever taken. You're clever, you'll work that one out.
Not I, as I do not always use STOP bath after developing ;)
Question: Although I want to take a picture especially for this collab, which means that it will be taken between now and Nov 26, how old a shot are we allowed to use? There's one of mine in particular that I think would be funny, but it's from about 2 years ago.

There are no rules on this ... Old shots are fine, as long as they aren't already in a previous collaboration gallery.

Yeah, I have so many ideas for this, but I'm waiting to see if something that I stumble upon gives me an idea I didn't have before. Also, after the collab is published I want to start a thread in photo essays called "Collaboration #35 outtakes" where we can all post our "other" ideas :)

The number of times I get the bloody date wrong when I set these things up....it's ridiculous. It's so common now that I actually triple check and I still got it wrong.
We usually go for a month, but I wanted a quick turnaround on this one since it had been so long since the last collab so I decided on 3 weeks; hence OCTOBER 26th and then I went and wrote November instead. Really sorry for the confusion, everybody, but this is depressingly common when it comes to me and dates. I'll update the original post and if anyone needs a few more days, I'll add their submissions afterwards if they send them in when they're ready.

I sent some film (14 rolls of 120 Ilford Delta 400) off to a lab to be processed and scanned after getting back from Malta. Otherwise, I would probably never get round to scanning it myself. I asked them to send me a test roll to ensure that I'd got the exposure right when using my Rolleiflex. The scans were delivered via email tonight and I'm chuffed with the results. Luckily, one of the photos is, IMO, just right for this collaboration.

Thinking I had 'til November, I'd planned to shoot something new next week whilst off work doing "daddy day-care" duties for the half term break... That plan well and truly scuppered, so had to go back to the archive to find something suitable...
Sent in now though, and looking forward to seeing everyone's submissions.

BTW, I won't have time to pull the gallery together & put it online until Monday evening (UK time), so there's an extra day if anyone needs it. Last minute is fine.

Schnikes, I'm glad I decided to re-check the date for this! I've got some rolls shot but not developed and honestly, I can't remember if anything suitable is on those rolls, and I'm not sure if I'll have time to shoot something new. Hrm...If not, I can pull from the archive.
Let's see what I can come up with by tomorrow night. It's okay, I work best under this kind of pressure ;D

Okay, I pulled from the archive and submitted an image.
Even though it's an older image, it oddly feels like I took it specifically for this collaboration. The image contains two things that I was thinking of shooting anyway, though as I was thinking of them, I imagined only one or the other. When I came across this image in one of my folders and saw that it contained boththings, I knew it was the one!
