I like the frame-within-a-frame-within-another-frame composition there Dave!

Here are a couple from last weekend's walkabout.  Tried Peter's suggestion of making a carrier to lift the neg 2mm off the glass of the scanner and the sharpness was noticeably improved.  (First is FP4 in Rodinal, the second is Efke 100R in HC-110B and both were shot with my Gundlach Korona 5x7)

Keeping with the boat theme these were both shot on the Oregon Coast earlier this week with a Rex Laboratories 4x5 press camera and a Graflex Optar f/4.7 135mm lens.  The film is Ilford Delta 100 Semi-Stand developed in Rodinal 6-750ml for 1 hour.  The swing set was a 4 minute exposure shot on a cloudy night with the only light coming from a few lamp posts and hotels on the promenade behind me.

Wow, Bryan, that seaside swing picture has an eerie feel to it. It almost looks IR and reminds me of the atomic test videos. Very cool!

I don't think there were any pirates on the Oregon coast.  The Peter Iredale was a four-masted steel sailing vessel that ran aground trying to enter the Columbia River on October 25, 1906.  It's been stuck there in the sand ever since.  My wife and I have both been going out there to see it since we were children (not together when we were children).  We both have childhood photos of ourselves at the wreck.  It's fun to go back and see what still remains of it.

Really like those swings Bryan!

Just some leafs from me. The 2nd one is a test shot with a gold & blue polarizer. The effect is not as bad as I was afraid it would be, although trees are not the ideal subject for this filter.

Is that just half of a boat Gary? Great shot by the way.

Bryan, that a beautiful image, but just a "reliquiae reliquiarum" of a boat.

Thanks, it is a not unprecedented idea in depicting the ruins of a church building, it goes back at least to Turner in 1794 as you can see in the thumbnail of his picture of the ruins of Tintern Abbey on this page:

First photos in a while. These were from my test roll in my new Fed.
I'm pretty impressed with the sharpness of the lens... less so with my processing. It's the first time I get junk on my negs in a very long time. I'll have to clean the lab really good. :(
This was on Arista.EDU Ultra 400 exposed at EI250 and processed in HC-110 Dil.E

Yep, it's taken with an Industar-61. Mine's a 53mm non-radioactive model (it's not the N-61L) with the zebra pattern casing (alternating black and chrome bands).
Let me tell you, the sharpness of this thing is really something else!

I've got "real" internet again!!! and some film back that I sent away for developing (nice to try that once in a while)

so yeah, two shots taken with a mamiya 645 1000s gifted to me from my father in law as a wedding gift :)

it's a bit of a challange holding this big lump of metal with the prism and no grip. so far I have figured out how to hand hold it for portrait shots pleasantly. trying to shoot the 80mm 1.9 wide open and I seem to get some near misses. hm..

been busy last couple of weeks but managed to do a test roll of Double-X trough my newly acquired Rollei 35S. Bulk loaded, shot it @1600 and souped it in Rodinal 1:20 for 10 minutes, but the grain is a little too much for my taste. I stopped using Rodinal for Ilford films because of the same problem, think double-x doesn't like either, so think I'm gonna cook me up a nice batch of Xtol, that stuff has never let me down   8)

My local trumpet/brass shop celebrated its 2-year anniversary. The repairman, Josh Landress, was working with big-box stores for years before going solo, and honestly I'm very pleasantly surprised that he's been so successful in such a niche market.

Satish, did you take the photo off Flickr? Can't see your picture  :(

Oops! I did that thing where you can "replace" the photo on Flickr (I decided I needed to dial up the blacks just a bit more). I didn't realize it changed the hotlinking URL as well...

Yesterday at a local festival, Aki Matsuri, I had a fun time talking to a guy who was shooting with a Minolta X370. Naturally, we spent a good time talking about film stuff.

My local trumpet/brass shop celebrated its 2-year anniversary. The repairman, Josh Landress, was working with big-box stores for years before going solo, and honestly I'm very pleasantly surprised that he's been so successful in such a niche market.
