I thought I would kick off the last weekend thread before 2014. I know I haven't been shooting much, but, I have been scanning photos from earlier in the year. Back to work today so here's something to start you off.

Beautiful Phil, love your work
I've been filmwasting in a big way, using a 5x4 in the dark with the ancient f2.7 lens wide open, more miss than hit so far

Just when you think the year is nearly over and all your best shots of the year have been made, you slosh some dodgy Chinese film in print developer and find this. Eh?
I know it's potentially a masterpiece. Just need an hour in the damp/darkish room to make it ! :-)
Taken with the Perkeo.
Stornoway - as you can see.

One from earlier in the year. Experimenting taking pinhole photographs from my (modest) yacht at anchor. Bit of a tricky one as I was anchored in Hamford Water in Essex a little way from the shore and there was just enough breeze and tidal flow to slowly move the boat around, which does matter with the very wide angle lens on the Harman Titan and the several second exposure.
However, this was the result, which does, I think, capture a representative impression of what it was actually like at the time:

Lovely Mr A-W. Really lovely

Hope everyone had a great Christmas. Been a very special and busy one for me - we had a baby girl, she's 15 days old today.
A couple of shots that got though the winter processing backlog (Fuji Reala & 400H, Paris & Birmingham, Hasselblad 500c/m):

My very first weekend thread! I'm excited and nervous at the same time :) I'll continue thil's Paris theme with a shot at the Catacombes that I took last month when I was there on holiday.
Canonet/Tri-X, and I'm pretty sure I Lightroom'd the hell out of it...

Phil: I love that shot. The Ektar really brings out the reds nicely.
mickld: I too love shooting into the sun. Gives nice contrast/backlighting, and if you're lucky some interesting lens flare!
And congrats on the baby, thil!

great start. really love DonkeyDaves nightshots.

I don't have anything new developed, as I'm saving up films to process a batch, so here's one from the summer. Fuji Sensia 100 slide film in a Canon EOS300 and Sigma 105mm macro lens

It was closed at that time so i could walk around and nobody disturbed me.

Congratulations on the baby Thil!
Inspiring photos again from everyone. O2pilot, I love this tree shot. Nice composition up to the image border.
Here are 2 of mine. I still haven't settled for a type of film and am testing something new from time to time. These are shot on Adox Silvermax, camera Zeiss Ikon ZM with red filter.

Hi. I am Robin Jones and this is a first contribution. My way of introduction, i have always used film alongside digital, but since i have been learning to use 4x5, i have become a little obsessed. Hope you find this Fp4 picture from the other day of interest. The crop is a bit brutal, but the trees called for this format.
I like the way the fallen tree appears to be pointing to the one leaning with its hands up.
-
Welcome, Robin. Always good to see new filmwasters.
Have a poke around in the various sections and perhaps when you feel up to it submit something to the "Meet the Filmwasters" thread. We are from all over the shop so I'm sure that the rest of the gang would love to know where you are from and any other relevant information. You know, shoe size, whether you have a dodgy taste in ties. Stuff like that ;D
-
Welcome Robin!
I just hope you don't have any link to Reliant cars... you'd just never hear the end of it! ;)
-
Luckily no.

Those specific images were shot at 400 and processed in Rodinal 1:100 semi stand for 1 hour. 18*C 30 sec agitation off the top, one gentle flip at the 30 min mark and voila.
I've shot it at 200, 400, and 1600. I've tried rodinal 1:50 for 11 minutes as per massive dev but find it doesn't give me the look I'm after most of the time. I may try rescanning some stuff though. When scanning I'm making a habit now to always treat it like tri-x. It seems to give me the best look that I'm after.
You're not the first person to inquire about how to work with this film. I am considering doing a youtube series of my findings and such.

Cheers! I love the bus shot (and that it's totally empty)! I'm a big fan of public transportation in general :)
-
Streetcar actually! I always prefer them over the bus. Im don't think they have changed their LRT here since around the 60's so everything has quite an old vibe to it.
