I just joined, browsed the posts to see if self introductions were the norm and it appears they are not, couldn't find any. But after doing a search I did uncover some….
But I will self introduce anyways. Found your form by looking for "film sites" on the web, sadly in real life you don't encounter it as often on the street as you would like.
I am probably on the "elder side" of the demographics, compared to most of the members here. I am retired and have two adult (and fortunately independent) children. Retirement gives me the opportunity to do photography and travel. But not much of either in the short term. I found Filmwasters while doing some web browsing while recuperating in bed from a hip replacement operation (which is the downside of being on that part of the demographic spectrum).
Since some might regard me to be an "old timer" the immediate assumption is that I must have been shooting film for years. Well yes I did shoot it in the 70's but have not done much photography for decades but got back into it with digital in 2005 and migrated my way back to film (35mm, MF and large format).
For me the fun part of film is darkroom work and I have been fortunate to be able to set up my own first darkroom this past year. If you are interested in seeing some pictures of it I did a post on the Large Format Forum which you will find here (post #473)

Although I enjoy shooting film, I only do B&W and haven't scanned that much.
if you are interested you can see some of my digital images on my flickr site.
You can see the sets at this link:

I was encouraged to see that some other Canadians are also members here

Welcome Frank
Good to see us canadians are making our way over to the site. I'm not sure there are any active members from BC though are there? Someone correct me if I'm wrong here.
Rest up and shoot some film!
-
Hi Frank. Welcome to our little corner of the net. Nice DR BTW.
Make sure you check out all the other areas of the site - guest galleries, collaborations, podcasts etc. They are quite out of date at the moment, but we hope to remedy that soon.
Cheers!
-
Welcome FrankE
Great looking darkroom set up!
A warm (and wet) welcome from a fellow west coast Canadian!
-
Welcome to the forum frank! That is an awesome darkroom setup you have. I live a bit down the coast from you near Seattle. I'm new here as well but I did my introduction in the Photo Essays section:

Welcome!! Sadly, I'm just a Brit - but have a strong urge to visit Canada - particularly British Columbia :)
-
Bonjour Frank!
Nice to see another canuck here!
Hope your hip will start working as new soon. All those who had it done say it's the best thing they've done in their life...
BTW, I'm slightly envious of your darkroom... mine isn't as nice and large.
-
Welcome Frank - that darkroom is truly luxurious. If you feel like building one in the UK, I'll pay for you to swim across ...
-
Welcome Frank. Your darkroom set up is a Rolls Royce, mine is a unicycle!
-
welcome to FW from a fellow LFinfo'er
remember your DR from reading that post earlier - very nice - outs by wood hut to shame ;-)
-
Hi Frank,
welcome to FW.
Volker
-
Welcome Frank. Great to see that you have a darkroom. Our new house is currently being built and I was able to have another wall and door added in the basement for my darkroom. Hopefully by this time next year, I will have a full working darkroom, too.
-
I wish I could hear you say, "process." I love that. But I have a couple Canadian friends who give me my fix.
Welcome!
-
Welcome! We accept introduction, or not as the case may be. Depends on the person. The reason this place exists is because we try to limit such rules so enjoyed by other net-nazi. Enjoy! Skj.
-
thank you for the various posts welcoming me, and the positive comments regarding my darkroom
since joining I have taken the time to look at some of the galleries, collaboration threads, and images generally
there are many very talented and creative photographers here……!
being a very strong "left brain" personality
my challenge is moving from a more conventional shooting style
to a more creative and venturesome style
there are many roll models for that here
I look forward to learning more and participating...
-
Welcome Frank,
sorry for the late reply, have not been very active here lately!
Your migration back to film is similar to mine, I'm sure you
realise a greater enjoyment of photography using film ! like myself :)
-
thanks Alan
enjoyed looking at your blog...
-
Welcome Frank!

Frank, a most hearty welcome to Filmwasters and thanks very much for taking the time to post an introduction. Some people do, some people don't, but they're fun to read when people do. The nearest thing we have to a formal intriductions thread is the "Meet the Filmwasters" photo thread. Some people post an intro via that route.
Anyway, I hope you have a fine time here and thanks for using the word, "venturesome" in your second post; it's a great word.
-
And I hope the new hip is going well :)
-
thank you for remembering about my hip Francois
the healing process is much slower than I expected, but I am making progress..
I know you got the snow storm in Montreal that we had here in Toronto last Saturday (Dec 14th)
the reason I know is because my wife flew to Montreal for one day (to see the Nut Cracker) and her return flight was cancelled due to the snow
the reason for mentioning it
is that I went out on Sunday (Dec 15th) shooting for the first time
I snapped a roll of XP2 with my old Canon EOS 630
it was cold, but the snow was so nice
the big challenge was what do I do with my cane while I take the shot
I came up with a sling arrangement that I used to hang the cane with
I pick up the scans tomorrow
if they are any good I will post some
-
Soooorry I´m late. Welcome Frank, I hope your age will bring some wisdom to this site, which I assure you is much needed 8) still there is so much to enjoy ;D
-
thank you for the welcome Carlos
I have been following your posts
portraiture is not something I have done much (enough) of
you have certainly set a standard I would aspire to
a good portrait says as much about the "shooter" as it does about the
person whose picture is being taken
your personality shines through...
-

I remember because our the lady who lives in front of our house just got hers replaced too. I saw her yesterday and she's now using a cane with four legs.
Of everybody I met who had theirs replaced, they all say it's the best thing they ever did... so it goes to show.
As for the snow, the city is still picking it up and let me tell you, it's getting darn heavy and it's just friggin cold outside!
-
Welcome to the forum Frank (I often feel a bit subconscious welcoming somebody to a forum I've not been a member of very long myself).
I feel I too struggle with the creative side of photography, what I see as my most creative work usually feels accidental or luck.
-

OK, from now on Frank is my very best friend at Filmwasters!!! ;D ;D
-
Frank, I'm not sure how I missed your initial hello, but, welcome.
-
thank you to Phil, John, Ed and anyone else I forgot to acknowledge
Ed I discovered the "Meet the Filmwasters Thread" after my self introduction
and thereafter started looking for an appropriate image of myself made with a film camera
which I couldn't find (everything is digital)
I dismissed the idea of posting a 50 year old image of our high school debating team……!
so I will need to consider doing a "selfie" with one of my upcoming rolls
