I thought I'd post this on the main forum since not everybody goes to the Sales room.
I'm looking for a 48mm snap-on lens cap.
I looked on the evil place but I find them all way too expensive. So I'm wondering if anyone has one lying around in a drawer.

if you can't find one, maybe a diy solution would work?

Are you sure it's 48mm 'cos 49mm is the standard.Amazon UK sell them at very reasonable prices......Geoff

That's the problem. I just got a Canonet 28 and it does require a 48mm cap. They're all prohibitively expensive on ebay.
I could get one from B&W but find their shipping rates ridiculously high for just a cap that would fit in an envelope.
If nobody has one in their drawer, maybe someone could fetch me one for cheap somewhere?

Is this one any good Francois? Happy to get it and send it on if so.

Some stuff uses 48 and for the life of my I could have sworn some lens I have uses one! Vs the more common (oly and Pentax for sure) 49mm.
Bhphoto has them for five bucks. I often buy film (and neg holders) from them and find them a reasonable place to buy fresh film for us Canucks. The shipping isn't awful if you pad a small order with a bit of film.

Haha. That is it my bloody Canonet 28 uses one ;-)

Yeah, it's one like that. But £2.50 + £2.60 shipping is quite expensive for something so simple... For me, that's well over 10$ for just a cap.

I hope you mean slide mounts... negative holders aren't exactly cheap ;)
I'm wondering if Gothamtomato still works there?
She's probably cheaper on shipping than their shipping dept.
-
Haha what do you mean you don't use a new neg holder each time you print a neg? What a slacker! ;-p ;-p
OK "PrintFile brand negative storage sheets" mr smartie boots.

Our local camera store has a bunch of odds and ends quite cheap, step up rings, caps, etc. I'll sift through the boxes next time I am there and see if a 48 is available.

OK, thanks

There is a camera swap meet here in St. Louis, Missouri, USA) next weekend. I'll see if any of the vendors have a 48mm snap on cap lurking in one of their bins. If I find it I'll pass it along…

Have you considered a plastic pipe cap? They are dirt cheap and made in a huge variety of sizes. I have a couple on one of my lenses, at both ends, and they work fine.

Just wondering if anyone managed to find a spare lens cap or if I should just ask Gothamtomato?
