Wow, what a great day. My legs ache and my cheeks are sunburnt. Great to meet lots of new people, and put pictures to faces. I shot 10 sheets of B+W, and 10 of colour. An exceptionally high amount for me - I truly wasted some film.
Dungeness is a truly stange/special place, and very much out of my comfort zone, not a tree in sight. I did my best to avoid the cliches, but I do appear to have taken some pictures of rotting boats...
These 2 are the first dry enough to scan, and were from the very end of the day, I shot these abstacts as a way of avoiding the bad karma that occurs from shooting only one side of a double dark slide.

Excellent work guys and quick processing! I'm very impressed with the sound mirrors shots, especially considering the restrictions.

Dave, great stuff! I particularly like number 2.

Good Stuff all round chaps !

SFX is kinda made for Sound Mirrors I reckon.  :D

Thanks Phil. Chamonix 045-n2, hp5+, pyrocat HD, 65mm lens.

So wish I could have been there with you all....someday, someday!
 I love the sound mirrors!

Dammit, same old same old  :D

Nice to use my £1 Ful-Vue again though, with '98 TMX and Ro9.
-
				Absolutely marvellous shots, everyone!
 (is kicking himself)

 Particularly like the sound mirrors.

-
				Inspirational stuff everyone!

Regret making an image of the sound mirrors now... was busy trying to sort out the stability issue with Leon's secret camera ;-)
-
Great work from everyone! I love seeing different people's take on the same object.

 It's always somebody else's fault, isn't it ;) :D ;)

-
Loving all the pics from everyone.

Peter - how do you like the SFX?  The IR looks particularly strong on the Nets/shed pic.

-
Peter, those SFX shots are great! Really like the look, do you need a red filter for that film, I've never used it (it looks pricey).

Leon - did you lose the light house shot? I lost a shot to a leaky film holder (new to me)

Leon - did you lose the light house shot?

Not as such, but it is woefully underdeveloped, and lots of uneven dev in the sky.  Plus, the composition is a bit shit.

Lighthouse Fail: (this shows what scanning can do!  There is no way I'd get anything like this if I tried to print it)

PS - I quite like the bullrushes shot.

-
Quick Draw McGraw guys... Must scan something tonight hopefully...

 All exceptional considering the conditions...

 Now, that is interesting!
I've seen some small ones at science museums that were used as a demonstration of the parabolic principles but never on this scale!
-
Peter - how do you like the SFX?  The IR looks particularly strong on the Nets/shed pic.

I like what I got with it on the day. I have a couple more rolls to play with and will try to find some different subjects.

The IR effect wasn't that great. The nets one probably had the strongest effect but I had to do a bit of creative curve manipulation on all of them. The filter I was using was a 720nm one but was a cheapy filter from China and I don't think they have as steep a cut-off as, say, a Hoya one so the effect isn't as strong. I might invest in a better one now I've seen some results.

Peter, those SFX shots are great! Really like the look, do you need a red filter for that film, I've never used it (it looks pricey).

Yes, you need a filter otherwise it just looks like normal film. See Leon's article (http://www.filmwasters.com/leonssite/articles/sfx76jsep2007.pdf) for some examples.

 Now, that is interesting!

Only these are sperical. The reasoning being instead of swiveling the reflector, they would move the microphone instead, much easier. They worked too, but the planes of WW II were too fast and picked up too late for them to be of use. However experience gained from networking several sites at once to quickly attain numbers, range and speed information was transfered to radar operations giving them a head start over the opposition.
-
And making parabolic shapes is pretty hard to start with. What's easy to put on paper can be a nightmare when you try and make it in the real world!
No wonder they went with circular shapes.

But still, this is incredibly neat stuff.
-
really hope to get there one day...you've all done it proud...peter, yours are positively 3D!

-
Superb work everyone, you've managed to make the place look quite inviting! Which I know it isn't especially in winter!!

I've managed to get one film souped and drying. Hopefully I'll get some scanned tomorrow.
-
Yes Miller - a nice splash of Pola-Pinhole colour to brighten our dreary Mono shots. The day was actually very nice and sunny, as your pic attests.

-
Good to meet up with you all for the first time many thanks to Paul for the intro and being the driver for the day.

Some lovely images posted making me feel bad that I have not processed them all and posted some. Well I'm sorry I have spent the day in the Chilterns, we still still have lots of snow and it never went above freezing today. Now totally knackered what with all that shingle on Saturday and up to 8" of snow today.

Hopefully I can get some of my T Max developed soon for Dungeness..........don't hold your breath for anything exciting.  :-\

 Steve

-
				Welcome Steve!

8" of snow... I guess it's time to take that sled out of the shed :)
-
Wonderful company, fish and chips, a pint of decent ale and wasting a load of film. What could produce a more enjoyable day out? Here's a few from Saturday. Hasselblad 500c/m, 50mm and 80mm CF T* lenses and Ilford XP2 Super.

-
Love the portrait LD and shed peeping... Great day as you put it so well and a thanks to your other half Lara for her on the spot critique of my wasting...

-
Miller, this last image is brilliant!

-
Gorgeous shots all, stunning. I love those sound mirror things.

-
OK, that does it. I am going to have to delve into the mirky waters of large format.

First need to build the DUO, then look at at building a view camera.
-
All good stuff guys and gals, I had a great day out, struggled a bit since I have been doing heaps of small format digital it took me a while to get my head space "RB'd", it will take me to june next year to get them processed, but never mind I ogt out there and got some shots.

 cheers

Lovely set of photos from all but I do love Miller's pola work. Really ace....

-
I've finally got around to doing some scanning and feeling just a little left out. It didn't take me long to revert to photographing people. This one of Leon 'reserving judgement'!  ;D

I'm now registered and able to say many thanks to all for a great day at Dungeness, and for making me feel so welcome.  It's inspiring to see so many different images from the same location.  I've only got digisnaps to post at the moment, so I'll wait for my film although I'm not expecting anything as awesome as these images.

 Cheers,

 Jenny
-
