Well, if luck is our side and the ferry gets mended, we'll be off to listen to the Dalai Lama in Inverness in the morning. I shall be taking the XA2 on account of a bandaged hand after a small op. In the meantime and to start the weekend, I give you;

a paper pinhole I did of a co-worker's grandaughters.....they forgot to stand still, actually they stood still but kept on talking...obviouse results.. :)
and park guests kept walking in front of them since they had no idea a pinhole camera was in use.

The weekends come around so fast.. thankfully :)
Here's another one of the wet plates I did.. probably my favourite one, everyone else was doing portraits which is great for learning and lots of fun but I like to work with props just as much.. it was my first plate (glass) so lots of flaws where I made a bit of a mess with the collodion and then again with the varnish.. probably got more on myself than the plate ;D

Two from a Black Slim Devil, one from a Spinner 360. I'm preparing to teach a course on "alternative cameras", whatever that will finally mean, so I'm trying to shoot as many as I can this summer. Lotta film wastin' going on!

So many great additions, yes, CJ looks just cool with that Condor cap!
Last weekend I went for shooting to a popular area in Khartoum; after five minutes I arrived somebody (national security?) goes to me and says I cannot photograph, as usual, I show my photo permits and manage to keep shooting, well not much, because just 5 minutes later I am on the process of being assaulted, long story short story I managed to keep my Polaroid 195 that somebody was trying to get from my hands, only broken strap. I shot couple of shots more and then went home. Its very difficult to wear an alert mood when you are trying to approach and photograph people. Yesterday the lifted the fuel subsidies in Sudan, so the mood is not very positive to say the least, we´ll see how it goes.
One with the Polaroid 195 and 108 expired 2000 and one with the Rollei 2.8, nice weekend everybody! :D
As suggested in previous weekend, sorry I forgot by who, I am scanning as positive color, adjusting level, then go to PS invert and apply curve. I found that dynamic range is much broader as well as detail, great! 8)

Calbisu - I really love your shots from Khartoum it's great to see a slice of a world so different and hearing your experiences of shooting on the street. That first shot, in particular, with the radio hanging on the wall!
My street portraits are very safe to make in comparison. London and Khartoum is an interesting contrast!

I really like those pinhole shots from Paul. Suzi's wet plate looks amazing as well. Overall great shots.

Sudan reached a peace agreement on 2005 after more than 20 years of civil war. On 2011 the south became independent, retaining with them 75% of the oil sources, still South Sudan needs to move out its oil through a pipeline that goes into North Sudan. No agreement has been reached between both countries on fares to pay for the use of the pipeline so war broke out again on 2012 reaching its peak on April. South Sudan close down its oil production refusing to move it through North Sudan. Now both countries are in an economic war which has brought them to bankruptcy. The North decided this week to lift subsidies to fuel and other basic foods, demonstrations are spreading through out the country and everybody fears than the Arab Spring will come here.

Mine are a few more from the walk Lara and I had along the Ridgeway the other weekend. Hasselblad 500c/m, 50mm (wide shots) and 150mm for the close up. Fuji Velvia 100. Very little post processing.

^^ Thats BONKERS! really cool! Heres my go at my Glamour shot for Gordie's Camera straps. This is on my new X10 (yeah yeah i still waste film). Also shot with TIP film. Took me 4 shots to get one that wasnt a piece of garbage though...

TIP actually contacted me and are sending me a film pack to hopefully stoke up my excitement for TIP films. Im having a lot of divots. Im not sure its the rollers in the camera as i do get the odd good one. Ive cleaned them enough times...

The TIP failures aren't without charm, but, it seems to be taking film wasting to a level that my pocket couldn't take! Having said that, I know that they are producing far more stable films these days.
Miller, I really dig yours.

I just used my sx-70 to roll the film. loaded the pinhole in the dark, took my shot outside, and unloaded and out back in a pack in the dark, then just opened and closed the front to eject each frame.
This PX70 is probably two years old. I think it is the first batch. I tried some first flush but it doesn't even show an image anymore. I had some Push! but I must have used it. Also have a bunch of BW Poor Pod, which works great sometimes, and other times it only have develops. I don't buy much IP film because it doesn't work well here in the bright sun and heat in my sx70.

Hi Nigel, street photography, and specially Street Portraiture, I find it very challenging, overall when the type of portraits are not candid like. You obviously have to interact with the person you are photographing, usually not having control of many factors like the background, surrounding, light, timing, etc. With that in mind you approach a stranger and bluntly ask for a shot, if you are lucky the person will be alone if not will be with its buddies, companions, etc, so he/she will not only conditioned by you but also by the others. When you take the shot you have to think about the usual, composition, light, depth of field, point of view, timing... but conditioned by the nerves (which usually do not allow you to think too clearly) and by the timing, the short precious time the person is giving you. When I arrive at the area where I am going to scout for ¨targets¨ I just ask myself, how the hell I am gonna be able to take a single shot? But then the opportunity arises, which is just not something likely to be photographed but also likely to let you photograph it.
And at the end does not matter where you are, Khartoum or London, it´s ALWAYS a challenge! :)

I am loving this camera! But I need to get a little better with the DoF - all these were shot wide open and hand held.

Two images shot with a Ricoh R1e. Film is an Agfa XRG 200 (expired 2008). A film full of grain. Self developed in Tetenal.
The negatives are extremely dense and the orange mask is very dark. Post-processed in Lightroom.

Given that we're all about 'thinking before you shoot' here at FW, I shouldn't laugh at this, but I did. A lot. ;D ;D But yeah, it does seem like those TIP films are still a bit of a challenge....although less so now than a year ago, surely?

To be honest the Silver Shade is a cracker and even the expired stuff I get cheap will only sometimes show a leaky pod where maybe 1/3 will be less exposed… Sadly this just reminds me of using expired peel apart with its individual quirks… Basically, after much cussing and a snubbing it has won me over and the shots I’ve done over the last few weeks made me grin like the late Terry Thomas.
Using a Polaroid instant SLR camera is just one of life’s pleasures. Pics courtesy of my collab' and homeboy Johnny P who sold it to me on these…
