Fascinating post - unusually so for the Daiily Wail.
The Chambre-Hardman property is managed by National Trust. (Bet they don't allow photographs inside....)

I'm hoping to get to visit this place soon. Mrs LD and I are NT members and this is one of the places I'd really like to see - instead of the more common palaces owned by the former rich, glamourous and/or famous/infamous.
