I dragged the modified Coronet Comander out of the cryogenic storage for a recent foray. Quite pleased with the results. Also, here is another from my ongoing blurry flower theme.

You didn't have to put your camera into cryogenic storage, you just had to send it on a Winter vacation in Canada last week :) (-37°C with the wind chill factor... cryo is at -40°C... just sends shivers down your back)
Lovely trees. What kind of tree is #1... looks very unusual.

Nice shots. I almost took my Commander out today for its first roll, but decided it wanted to shoot 6x6 mainly today.

AO - the picture was taken in Canterbury's Westagte Gardens - I foun this on the Canterbuy City Coucil site ...

All three are so different and have beauty of their own but I adore the middle one. Given the rain we....well you, as I have been away....have had and the time of year it seems perfect. THanks for sharing as always Leon.

Great and varied work, especially like the first one. make a lovely album cover. Have to admit i don't know the camera, tried a search on E-bay , nothing on view, wasn't sure if it was closer to a Diana or a Hasselblad. The flower work is great because you can often do it at home when the weather is poor for outdoor photography. They print and tone beautifully.

glad you like them. Eddie - the coronet commander is a fairly rare british toy cam - it takes 120 film but only gives a 35mm size frame on it (what a waste! ???) so, after taking advice from Mr Ed Wenn (no less) I got one for 99p, cut away the image mask on the back and opened it up to abotu 6 x 5 cm. The lens is now quite wide and the light falls off nicely around the edges. It is very uncontrasty though - think I might need a red or orange filter in there to boost it up a bit. it has 2 apertures (labelled colour and black and white!) and 2 shutter speeds (around 1/100 and 1/50). A nice alternative to holga/ diana if you can find one.

Well, it is quite a sight. 200 year old tree... probably wouldn't have survived that long in my neck of the woods :)
Looks like a nice place with plenty of photo ops. Nice picture.
As for the camera, you could stick an orange filter taken from the Rosco Swatchbook (they are free) and tape or glue it to the inside of the camera. That would do the trick.

The tree looks as if it's perched on a throne of sorts....all regal and civilized.
And it's my fav of the lot.
Interesting series, but for some reason they don't look like the typical Leon Taylors I've seen in the past.
Are they missing some Taylor richness somehow?

Becky - thanks for the comment. And as for the richness - I know it may sound like a complete cop-out, but I got a new monitor about 8 weeks ago, and I just cant calibrate it at all - any scans are looking way too flat compared to the prints. I should have known better from a flat screen, but it is a pricey one that should act the same as a CRT.

Leon, you always deliver the goods...even if it were the backside of a garbage truck. Your florals are marvelous and so very pretty....especially in your first set. Nice presentation....great work as always.

More great images! Monday morning and good to get some inspiration to start the week. There was me thinking I was going to think about work! I love 'rowtrees'. I don't have a problem with the imaging level, they look fine on my pc.

(ever tried a calibration spider? I know they're dreadfully expensive but maybe there is a place where you could rent one for the day...)

Leon, it's funny that you've used your Commander recently. I've just come back from a trip to Albania and - tired of the usual Dian/Holga axis of plastic - I took an Agfa Isola for colour film and my Coronet Commander for b/w. Weird coincidence. I get my b/w negs back tonight and will post a selection of the best stuff here when I get time to scan them.

I'm a big fan; they're great toy cams, but please do cut away the back mask from the 'portrait' size that it was made with. You can make it square too if you want. Ignore the Anny on the second row, the four cameras at the bottom are all Commanders.
Oh yeah, almost forgot; Leon, I really like the snaps. The middle one is particularly cool. Desolate and beautiful.
