Filmwasters.com members sign up to participate here. Each person will be given the details of another filmwaster to whom they should send one print. This is not an exchange, you will only ever send one print and will recieve one print but from different people. So John sends to Chrstine, who sends to Farquois, who sends to Jiminy, who sends to Millisent who sends to John - and thus is the circle completed.
Rules are few:-
1. Prints should be made from film negatives/ positives - no digital capture.
2. Prints should be made on a paper size of 10x 8 or A4 as a minimum although images can be any size upon this
3. Prints can be made in any way including alt processes, silver gelatine, inkjet etc.
4. Any comments/ details/ criticism requests are purely optional, although this can be helpful.
5. There is nothing to stop you making private arrangements to exchange prints within the circle, but that is not the purpose if this excercise
6. Those who do not send on a print after signing up will not be allowed to participate in future rounds until they have done so (unless mitigating circumstances apply)
Those who have made a clear indication of wanting to participate already are below:
Lauraburlton (need your address via pm please)
Karl
Tammy
Ailsa
Astrobeck
Warren
Chricel
Leon

-
you should all have the names to send to by now.
Please post here when you receive your prints so I can track the progress.
I'm away for 2 weeks from tonight, so any problems will have to wait until I get back
-
I had a moment of productiveness and non procrastination ( rare for me :))) I sent mine off yesterday. Acnt wait to see what I get :)
-

Wow! I just received a gorgeous wee print from Laura:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/lauraburlton/405241425/
(my scanner does not do prints well so this is a direct link)
Thanks a million :) Loved the paper as well - is that semi-matte?
-
Wow Dave that's a corker...beautiful print.
-
Thanks Dave, I wanted it to be a surprise as to who I was shipping to :) The paper is Arista but it is made by Foma( fomabrom matte) apparently. Arista is Freestyles own brand and they have papers made by Forte ( while it lasts....), Foma, Kentmere and they used to have Ilford and Agfa rebranded. Its quite a bargain and I like the way it tones, which is nice. I am going to have to try the glossy next time as well.
Anyways I am glad you got it :)
-
Got mine out today on its long journey to the land down under... :)
-
Put mine in the mail today.

-
Do we have a cut-off date. need to plan my darkroom time. Thanks in advance.
-
Mine sent on the way down under as well.
-
Mine went in the post today. :)
-
Posted mine across the Pacific yesterday.
:)

Hi,
I just got my print or should I say, two prints. A very cool gold toned POP print and a cross processed negative from a Kodak twin 20 digi-printed. You only signed them, and the lovely note, A. so whoever you are A. thank you. I will hang them in my office. This is such a lovely custom.

I received Jon's lovely print in the mail early this past week. Sorry for the late notice. It has been one of those weeks!! Here is a quick scan of Jon's image.

Oops. I meant to say thank you, Jon, in the above post!!!
-
A delightful print was awaiting me when I got in from work this evening. Thank you, Don Brice, for 'Surf Jumping' - I love it!
(PS - The dust is very much my scanner, and definitely not the print, which is immaculate in every way.)

The other day I was so chuffed to receive a note from my post office saying I had a delivery to pick up. Being disorganised lately, I only picked it up yesterday and was so happy to get a beautiful print from Bill, of a Roadside Pachyderm no less!! Any flaws in the image below are from my scanning, certainly not the print!
Thanks so much Bill. This is a wonderful project.
*NB ~ For my intended recipient in Florida, my apologies for my slowness, your print will be in the mail in the next couple of days, promise!
Addit: Posted my print off yesterday afternoon!

What a treat. I open the mail box yesterday to find a stunning print from David Bennett. A gorgeous scene and a beautiful print. I apologize to David for the poor quality of this scan. The print deserves better.

Wow. Like many others, I was blown away when I opened my print circle print.
Kuru, thankyou. It is a lovely polaroid lift which will soon be framed and on a wall somewhere prominent. I won't even try to scan it. The beauty of the original print would not translate. It so much more than simply the subject in the image.

I received my print today from around the other side of the globe - Taiwan to be exact! Thanks Formica / William - it's a really good one!
Will post a scan if and when I can coax some life into my ailing scanner...
-
I sent mine a few weeks ago (UK>UK) but I think they are on holiday and have not got it yet. Any idea how long the post office hold packages for?
-
Apologies for the delay in sending mine out. I should get it in the post this weekend.
-
Phil, your print made it and I happily thank you! I have included the best scan I could make - Titled "Raki Making,” the print has a sweeping tonal range and is a feast for the eyes having many intricate details. Two questions, Phil:
1. What paper was this printed on (very nice texture)?
2. How was the Raki? ;)
Thanks!

Been away on a few weeks holiday so you can imagine my delight when I went to the post office to pick up this beautiful print from Dave Morrow AKA Dave_M. I'm afraid I don't have a scanner so I had to resort to photographing the photograph. Dave it is wonderful and will very shortly be framed and hung on the wall. Thank you.
Ron. So glad that mine arrived safely and that you like it. I can't remember exactly what paper it was printed on but I know that it was an Ilford Fibre paper that was toned. I hope that will suffice! As for the Raki....always good, a poor substitute for Gin but when in Rome as they say. :P

Today, I received a fantastic print from eddie malin - I wont scan it as it wont do it justice. It's a darkroom print on the now unavailable Kentmere art classic paper I've never used or seen this paper before, I wish I had it's really nice. thanks Eddie - that'll go up on the wall asap.
ok everyone .... I'm away for the weekend, but I'll do some number crunching when I'm back and hopefully we can tie up round 2 if most are sent and received.
Do people want a break or shall we press ahead with round 3 soon?
-
Personally I have loved the last 2 and am up for more.
-
Thanks Leon, Pleased you like it.

You are very welcome, Chricel! Glad it is up your alley ;)
-
Got my wonderful print from Chricel late last week. I will try to post a scan later tonight. Thanks again Chricel!!!!
-
My print should have well and truly reached its recipient by now, I wish I knew if it had, or if there have been any problems. It's a bit frustrating not knowing if it got there or not!
???
-
I have not received my print from this go round.....
-
I have not received my print from this go round.....
Er – that might have something to do with the fact that it hasn't been posted yet... (Hunts desperately for 'sheepish' smiley...)
However, it is (finally!) packaged up and ready to hit Royal Mail tomorrow. You never know, it may even be with you before summer 2009.
My apologies for the delay.
-
A lovely Holga print arrived in the post this morning from Phil Morris. I must say it's a rather lovely and beautifully printed image of the interior of the chancel of The Guild Chapel of the Holy Cross, Statford on Avon and will be duly framed and hung in my little cottage on the Isle of Lewis when we finally get there next month. Will scan and post here soon
MAny thanks Phil
-
Gary, you're welcome !!
I'm glad it arrived :) & that you like it.
-
Glad you got it safely Tammy and very glad you like it!
I received mine from Chris Pierce over a month ago and I've been terribly lax in getting in scanned.
It's a beautiful print and I'll have it posted soon.
-
Alas, mine didn't come either. I'm assuming it got lost in the post. The postal service in Chicago is notorious for losing things.
-
sorry everyone for being really poor at keeping up wiht this - the same old excuse I'm afriad - a bit too busy. I'll hopefully have time to get it going again in the next week or so. Apologies once more
-
ok - I'm afraid to say we're still 9 prints short as far as I can tell. this is probably because I havent been keeping my finger on the pulse. Some of them have been posted as being sent, but havent been received (yet - these thing scan take time).
I think it's best that I take the blame for not keeping my eye on the ball (foot on the pedal, + any other cliche you can think of) so we'll wipe the slate clean and start again. I promise to be more on top of it all this time, honest.
I've lost the opriginal list of who was sending to who so I cant really check up on enyone .... can those who have sent but not heard if the prints have arrived please contact the person they were sending to dircectly for round 2 prints? ta.
look out for round three thread to sign up.
