It's actually a contact printer with the glass plate missing.  The instruction brochure clearly doesn't belong to it.  Looking at the condition of it, probably not very useful as a printer either.

And just looking at the cord, the electrical side of this thing is kinda scary... I can't believe he actually plugged it in to take a picture!
