I just shot , or rather totally wasted 5 sheets of polaroid 54 that came out totally white.
It looks like the emulsion is not working?
Can this happen. I've tried 2 different cameras, and even had someone else try a shot with it- and the got the same results.
Nada!
Could I have a defective box of film? The stuff was purchased brand new.
I've used this stuff before and never had this happen.
Anyone????

Did you use it in the same camera?
A grossly overexposed sheet will turn white (positive medium).
Also, make sure the pod burst. I have one loader which a long time ago gave me hell because of that. And it took me forever to figure out why.

Hmmm - if you have shot this stuff before, I don't want to insult you :) , but yeah it sounds like extreme over exposure.
Pola stuff can be tricky. I have had two problems with it:
Shooting pinholes and being WAY off in my exposure and then getting confused between over and under exposure, but too, I have recently had problems with my holder. I tell you this hoping to maybe jar your investigative ideas. My holder won't latch the film sometimes and then I pull the film and sleeve up together and NADA! But then it comes out tar-black. Light leaks, bad film perhaps (not likely) ???
Good luck - I get expired Pola stuff from a local cam store (it's all I can afford), so I don't get it at the over-inflated-new-box cost. That mess is too expensive to have anything go wrong!

Was there any image on the paper negatives? I had a recent batch of Fuji produce a lot of white shots, but the paper negs all had images. The other possibilities are your holder isn't latching the film correctly or an exposure problem.

Thanks guys!
I'm going to shoot some more tomorrow.
I did use 2 separate cameras, and with another person getting the same results tells me something is wrong with the film holder, or indeed we are independently making the same gross mistakes- which I find unlikely.
I'll post whatever I discover.
