: Countries Filmwasters are in? (dates for calendar!)
: Heather November 26, 2010, 04:58:49 PM
Hi guys,

Nearly done with the 2011 Filmwasters calendar. I've realised I can just about put loads of dates on the calendar as there's not too many that clash (there's Daylight Savings for the US and British Summertime for the UK ... only had to manually add in Mothering Sunday(UK) as having two Mother's Days is confusing and the UK one is technically Mothering Sunday etc etc).

So far I have US, UK and Canadian (in French) dates...

I can add in:
German
Italian
French
Dutch
Mexico
Spain
Argentina

Although I think if I have to add in ALL of those the little boxes will get full really fast...

So close to being done!!  ;D

I wouldn't mind having the German dates in there.

Having said that, it hasn't figured out the New Years 2nd of January holiday is "observed" or not so just has it on the Sunday. I may have to research...

German dates added. Doublechecked the UK/Scotland holidays and fixed/added where necessary (had to put in observed Christmas and boxing day as well as observed new years and 2nd January).

Had to remove the bizzare German date of "2. Weihnachtstag" on the 26 December... that's date is full now of Kwanzaa, Lendemain de Noel and Boxing day and UK Bank Holiday :/

Don't forget it's that wedding on the 29th April - so we get an extra holiday to "celebrate". (I won't be watching).

Actually, perhaps I should have said Noth Tolsta dates then since the folks here are mainly Free Presbys or Free Presbys [continuing] and don't for example, celebrate Christmas !

On the other hand Uk dates will just be fine :-)

being a US ex pat, you clearly haven't grasped the more subtle points of the various british national interests. British v English v Welsh v Cornish v Irish v Scot aside, nobody describes themselves as United Kingdomish. Do you not understand what our caledonian cousins (even those honorary ones like our Andrea) have gone through to claim their Heritage?  And you deny them it in one foul swoop.  Shame on you.

I'm Gillinghamish - and proud of it.  Those UK - o - crats have no power over me.

I noticed that when looking at the directgov website for the UK dates... and added it accordingly as Royal Wedding as they call it  :D

Oh shush, Leon. No calendar for you  :'( Oddly I don't consider myself anything but American even though I've got this weirdly coloured passport (along with my proper blue one)...

You can remove Lendemain de Noël on the 26th... we just call it Boxing Day around here :)
That'll give place for others :)

Leon, I would not have put "Irish" in that description above! by stating Irish you are
pasting the whole island of Ireland in one foul swoop as possibly being "United Kingdomish"
. . . and we are not!

You meant to say "Northern Irish" !

Oh just to be clear im IRISH  ;D

Okay, that's all now... I've ordered myself a copy to make sure it's okay first before I inflict it upon you all. Judging by recent lulu delivery times, it should be here before/by the end of the week. Then I can see if I need to rip my hair out about low resolution/tiny images or not  ;)

Another MoK, phew ... I can rest easy for it is half my lineage too  ;D

One of the lyrics in "The Onion Song" says we have to "Plant love seeds ..." always made me a tad queasy that.

Hi Heather

Any news on the calendar yet or is that pesky snow delaying things?

I am keen to get an order in for a few for Christmas presents for friends and family.  Any idea when Christmas deadlines might be for ordering this?

Graham

But. Not everyone who is from NI considers themselves to be 'Northern Irish' I'm just Irish. ;)
Or aren't we all 'Mid Atlanticish' these days?

I have no clue what's delaying the calendar. I ordered a proof as soon as I could and it printed and shipped ... on the 1st. Normally the post isn't so awful :/ and we didn't have much snow and had post everyday that I could tell unless it's being shipped from Kent or southeast of London... or Scotland... or Newcastle... hmmm...

Last posting ordering dates are coming up soon so I'll just post a link and fail to endorse this properly like I was expecting to  :-\

Not to worry Heather - thanks for all the hard work.  We all know that any failings the calendar has will be the printer's fault - your input will be impeccable. We are really indebted to you for taking this on. Thanks
