: Thom Stone September 25, 2010, 12:25:18 AM
Hey does anyone know of an instant back that would fit my Rolleicord I Model 1?

boring question sorry, ive seen a bit about instant backs for TLRs online but have really struggles to find any that may fit mine.

i don't think there has ever been a production TLR polaroid back, just home built deals. defnly not one ever made for a Rolleicord, as most of them are older than pack film.

The Mamiya RB-series and perhaps Hassy mounts might have application?

Thats amazing. It looks like you can put a polaroid back on any camera. Wow!!!

if you really want to waste some film, get a 35mm pola back...

LOL!!! That seems to me to be a perfect example of wasting film.

wow that really is film wasting in its element!

especially when the speed magny exists!

with type 665 getting to be so expensive on auction sites, I've been looking at mods that are full frame coverage.  I've been (slowly) working on modifying a leonardo 4x5 that's almost ready.  The initial mod (just attaching the lens gave me only a very small area of coverage on the film. Good - lesson learned.  Second adjustment was making a more 'proper' sized lens board opening and the result was about 60 - 65% coverage. Clser but not what I wanted.

Now I just have to make one more adjustment, I believe, to get full frame and it will be good to go with both the 4x5 pola back and 4x5 sheet film holders.

The shots from thus far have somewhat of an f64 look...  While I'm not technically astute enough to gauge this, I'm guessing with the leoanardo body plus the diana barrel and lens magnification, the lens has an equivalence of maybe 110mm.  I'm sure others will differ on that but that's not so important to me.  The lens barrel and lens magnification is pretty close to the 3-6, 6-12, and 12 - infinity of the focal plane of the diana lens.  That's what matters.

I hope to finish this off this week and will post some results next weekend as well as a shot of the final mod!! This snap was from the initial mod of simply attaching the lens over the leonardo lens board.

The back on that Mamiya, I have one of those converted to a pinhole - not my handywork I hasten to add.

Well... wonders never cease to amaze me! Check this snappy device out:

You would have to convert the Polaroid roll-film back to pack-film, but as we know, that's a relatively easy process. Sean I am sure could be commissioned! See ya. Skj.

Never seen such a thing in my life...
But on the up side, those roll film backs can be converted to take pack film (if anyone has enough guts to rip a collectible piece of hardware to pieces.

If I had the money and the skills I would turn a LSI instant back and a Yashica 4x4 into an Instant Yashica.

the speed magny is interesting...shoots a full frame polaroid with a nikon 35mm camera. picture quality is pretty bad, though.

that roll film back is pretty sweet!

ive tried most of the lenses, this was taken with a fisheye,
most wide lenses got a little vignette at the corners, the 50mm works fine, almost no vignette.
but the exposure calculation for this full size back (the hole packfilm) is a little off, usually 2 to 3 steps darker

Hmmm... would the Yashica 44 lens got much heavy vignette on 6x4.5?

If I had the money and the skills I would turn a LSI instant back and a Yashica 4x4 into an Instant Yashica.
