: Fun Fair
: cwilk August 18, 2010, 10:38:29 AM
I took these pictures of the local fun fair recently.  The early morning one I took on my way to work.  I was surprised that at 6 in the morning, I had to dodge around security guards.  I thought there would just be the odd jogger.

Great shots! I can almost hear the barkers. : )

I think my favorite is the first shot, the early morning shot. Seems so peaceful for a place that is usually so noisy.

Where were the shots taken?

I love fun fair shots and the early morning is my favourite as well... Empty fun fairs reminds me the Batman comic book "The Killing Joke"

I've no idea why they call them fun.

I'm not good with things that spin round in any direction and not keen on heights.
Fair 3, makes my stomach churn just looking at it.

Two from me, one from Birmingham and one from Nottingham.

I think they are definitely better enjoyed walking around than going on the rides.

There is nothing I know that is more depressing than a closed fun-fair.

These places were the epicentre of the good times of my youth but the decline of the fun-fair in favour of the arcade game and, worse still, the PC game, has sucked the life out of these venues.

In the UK, we had a proud tradition of seaside fun-fairs but, these days, the best we have is in Blackpool, with few others trailing along in a mournful second place.

The photos posted so far as stunning. I wish I had some similar shots. Print 'em, frame 'em and hang 'em...!

I love these! The images with no people in them are timeless - could be many decades ago...  And Diane - that first color image really packs a punch!  Love the color palette!

Some great shots, cwilk the empy funfair looks eerie to me the use of mono suits that. I also like Diannes first shot and Sapata's colour Polas.

I found Blackpool very over powering when I went a few years ago.  It seemed like everything was over done and too much.  Also a lot of litter and the place was a bit worn out.
