I have some pictures up in Salisbury Waterstones from sunday for a month.
They're up the back stair well, which from going in there yesterday I realised I need 3x as much as I thought ...so it's more last minute (typically :) printing and framing.
Only one portrait, looks like alot of flowers and pretty things.
Anyway, if you happened to be down then please get in touch so we can grab a coffee 'cause that would be nice :)

Well done. Lots of footfall at Waterstones. Hope you do well.
-
Congratulations! I guess it's better than many of us have done ;)

Congratulations.
Will you get any feedback in some way from the viewers of the exhibition?
Print sales or commissions perhaps?
Waterstone's in Nottingham had a gallery on one of the upper floors. I assumed this was because the university their had a large art\media department and Waterstone's found it good pr to make this space available for them to exhibit their works.
I wonder how many other of their shops have space to do this sort of thing.
How did you find out?

That's super news!!! :)
Wish I could come over to see it. I love hearing about fellow FW's shows and stuff!
:)

Thanks chaps :)
Mike, no there won't be any feedback, I'm sure most people barely notice the pictures there, too busy thinking about their books :)
Our waterstones always seems to have done it....i just walked in and asked and the chap said yes without even enquiring what sort of art i wanted to hang, heh. Turns out he's a painter and if someone drops out he takes their place...he's got the main stairs while I'm there for this month.
They don't charge commission and they will take cash if you're lucky enough to have someone buying which is great.
When I spoke to him yesterday he said they were considering charging as a way of maintaining the walls, they are in a pretty bad state, full of holes etc.
So I'm guessing it's at the manager's discretion so definitely worth having a chat with your local store.
It seems like a really nice way to support the local artists.
Anyway I'm still framing them up, bit of a mixed bag really, I'll be glad when they're up and I can take some more pictures :)

Yep, definitely an exhibition in my book and way better than my last effort, which was to have four of my images projected onto a wall at CUBE in Manchester (UK) as part of a group show of urban buildings taken during their architecture week. Lasted for three days and apparently just four people went in and had a look at them! Still its on the CV!

ex·hi·bi·tion /ˌɛksəˈbɪʃən/ Show Spelled[ek-suh-bish-uhn]–noun
1. an exhibiting, showing, or presenting to view.
2. a public display, as of the work of artists or artisans.
Official, it's an exhibition... Congrats and well done....
p.s. Took my 5 coming on 6 year old to Tate Britain today, in the main hall there were a couple of young art students with mobile trolleys full of art utensils encouraging kids to sit and make stuff. My boy made a simple rocket and I asked if he wanted to take it home, he declined and sellotaped it to the trolley while stating... "Now everyone in the museum can see it".

Vicky, photos hung on a wall in a public place - FAB! I will make it my business to come over for a look.

Anyway, if you happened to be down then please get in touch so we can grab a coffee 'cause that would be nice :)
Well done Vicky, very pleased for you. As I'm a local there's no excuse not to pop in! It would be great to combine it with a coffee and a chat if you've time.

G, that made me laugh :)
Miller, sounds like he's a natural!
Well, they're all up, now i have to get the house straight...looks like no ones washed up or emptied the bin etc for days.. :)
And Harvey & Phil, yes, please drop me a line if you make it over, the best bit about putting pictures up is meeting people!
-
You bet, Vicky. I might try and make it over one afternoon this week.
-
Really well done Vicky, I'm a big fan of your work. I think that exhibition is well overdue! I don't think I'll get time to make it over, but I hope it all goes well. :) :)
-
Phil, i'm around weds or thursday afternoon.
let me know if you are but no worries if you can't.
thanks nigel...i tried to choose ones that would be popular rather than my own favourites...it's abit unsettling really...but it adds abit of colour to their walls so hopefully they'll be happy with them.
-
Vicky, well done & good luck. I can never be bothered to frame anything, so well done for putting in all the work.
Phil: If you do get a chance to visit and you sense a film op, feel free to shoot some footage for a future FW video podcast. Maybe even a short interview with the artist herself?
;)
-
Will do, Ed! Hopefully I will get over this week and meet the artist herself.
Yes, Vicky, that's you ;D
-
Vicky..you know I am a big fan! I wish I lived a bit nearer....I would be right there cheering you on, so to speak!
-
