-
New crisp bellows... wow.
You're really spoiling yourself here!
-
Leon, that is gorgeous.
-
Are you trying to kill us all with envy???
-
OK, but it's not exactly a Tachihara with a homemade lens board, a free lens & a high-tech close-up arrangement is it?
:D :D :D

looking mighty handsome there! ;)
Very nice!
-
I'm finding this all rather arousing...
-
Looks pretty damn fine to me, Ed. Anyone who can make their own stuff takes on almost God status in my eyes. I'm a lazy ass!
-
Nice one guys, I am very envious, hope to see some results from you both soon
-
I'm starting to feel a wee bit of gear envy coming up...
I need to finish fixing my old Burke & James view...
-
Hey that's a nice looking camera, exactly what kind is it?
Roger
-
mine is a shen hao walnut 4x5 field cam
- Ed's is a Tachihara 4x5 field cam.
-
"mine is a shen hao walnut 4x5 field cam"
Och Leon, is rat a Scottish maker ?? 8)
-
Oh my goodness, how very very fancy-pantsy! LOVE it Leon! :)
-
So... Do you have the floor to ceiling 4x5 enlarger yet ???

So... Do you have the floor to ceiling 4x5 enlarger yet ???
My enlarger is a wall mounted Devere 504 - had it for about 5 years.
-
Ah well then, this camera was bound to happen then! Good luck with it. Looking forward to seeing your results.

This thread got me thinking about my untouched LF, so today I took it into my friendly lab and we played about with it abit and after messing up just the loading part twice i think i understand how to make a polaroid now.
So tomorrow, if i can persuade someone to give me 15 minutes, I'm going to try to take a portrait.
It's only taken nearly 2 years :)
-
Mmmm...

Nice set-up Leon! Weirdly I have a similar field cam myself, but still end up using my battered old Speed Graphic most of the time .. I don't know if it's just familiarity or some strain of masochism ...
-
david, do you have examples of pictures from your speed graphic?
-
Hi Vicky. All the recent b&w shots at the link below were taken with the Speed Graphic I think, but with an 1860's carte de visite lens on the front, so they're not representative or anything!
-
After reading up on collodian LF and now seeing this, I've decided to really s t r e t c h my retirement income! I know that wasn't your intention, but I'm glad that you helped...
-
All this talk about LF is really getting me eager to actually take some photos..My dear friend has decided he won't shoot film anymore so he gave me his Tachihara 4x5 field cam..what a work of art and it doesn't look it has ever been used although he is a terrific photographer and used it quite alot.! Takes me awhile to get up enough nerve to actually use it...I already owned a speed graphic and have only used it twice..so I have to get busy and shoot!
I am encouraged by all the posts here!

Damion, this is great! I am getting a serious dose of LF envy here.
-
I guess I'm going to have to get back on my 4x5 restoration project...................
-
Yes! Spread the LF love! I'm messing with a few old lenses taken from MF folder at the moment - getting some great vignette/focus fall off/sweetspots and distortion - LF holga!
-
"getting some great vignette/focus fall off/sweetspots and distortion"
that sounds exciting!!!
-
I wish I had not stuck my nose into this thread. I have just had all my LF lust reignited. It has been about 4 years since I last had 4x5 and 8x10 kit. Where did I go wrong?
-
Congratulations Leon on at last getting a L/F camera you desired.
L/F can be a pain at times but it is well the effort, I love it.
Enjoy
