Last year I started a thread for your fave self-portraits that turned into a collaboration. "Me By Me." While I'm not assuming the same will happen with this topic, it's always a treat to see what a little self-curating about ourselves shows about us.
So this time around, it's about your favorite portrait. Doesn't have to be spectacular or a pulitzer prize winner. Your reasons can be purely personal or more universal.
I'll start with mine: my spouse and I were reminiscing about out last trip to Europe and how much we enjoyed spending a few weeks in Paris. We happened to be sitting outside a cafe that is one of the few spots in Seattle where (if you squint your eyes slightly) you can feel like you're in Paris.
Used a MF cam w/polaroid back, type 665.

Many cool portraits, I specially like the one from Gregor and Andreas (in both of them the composition is great).
Mine is from Elena, my wife ; ) I like it because I got a glimpse of herself... her looking absent
Calbisu.

Happy to see someone else using a Cosmic35... But I have a question about the rewind: is yours as hard to turn as mine? Mine makes my fingers numb. I even opened it up to oil the rewind but it still is a pain...

wow - really great stuff here. and to think most of us wouldn't consider ourselves portrait photographers even in the loosest sense of the term.

I don't consider myself at all... I don't feel confortable taking pictures of people and I can count on my fingers how many portraits I've done in my photography life...

This would have to be my fav.
My Fiancee, Lara with her Grandads old Zorki.
It was the first time she'd shown any interest in photography - I love how she has squashed her nose just to get nearer the viewfinder!

all great - Phil, that shot is so perfectly Diana-esque. The Diana being used to it's best strengths I'd say.
I dont have the greatest confidence when it comes to people pics .... but here are some I've been happy with First one is my mate Rick inside West Kennet Long barrow, Second is Rick and Dan outside West K LB, Third is The inimitable Messrs Wenn and Rice:

This is from a little project I started a while ago, (People I meet at work) something to help overcome shyness and asking to take peoples pictures.

Hard to choose a single snap (and I see others here feel the same), but this is one which I took a while a ago and I haven't gone off it yet. My niece, Laura, in a field in Kent somewhere in 2005. Great Wall & home made/modified lens.

...oh and here's another fave. Taken the same year in Hyde Park, London. The girls from Coco Rosie. Camera was a Coronet Commander.

Leon, thank you - there are some great shots here. I really want to take more people shots. Of course, wanting to take them and actually taking them is another thing. I will at least ask people now as well as the odd from the hip shot.
I must say I don't use the Diana much, it's the clicky film advance - it drives me nuts!
I hope it is okay to post another that I am really happy with? From my post work old people stalking! I'm sure it will land me an ASBO at some stage.

Hi Phil. Great shot.
I noticed some of your ice cream eating old folks featured on HolgaJen's blog.
Inspiring work!

Hands down one of my faves of my son. Holga camera.
With me too! A classic! Which of course is why it is pirated all over the place in Holga books... Skj.

In my dreams, I'm not shy and I take lots of portraits. I'm so envious of those who photograph people!! I love looking at faces...

My son has proved an endless source of amusing portraiture. These are a few of my favorites, but I can't find scans of the two I would consider my absolute favorites.
