That damn German, he's always taking me to places where it looks like the world will end. This was last Wednesday:

With meteors falling from the sky The German and I took cover under an abandoned boat.
this was a while ago:

With ash from the volcano falling all around we stopped for gas and a quick drink.
Story - sort of - HERE (http://blog.juergenspecht.com/2009/with-meteors-falling-from-the-sky-skorj-and-i-took-cover-under-an-abandoned-boat/).

Lovely stuff as always, Skj. What's the story behind the meteors? Are they marks on the film or were things really falling from the sky?
The second shot is one of my fave Skj photos and also one which inspired Sean to comment on your ladder technique in a way that I remember had me quite literally in fits of laughter.

Scratch that...I just read Juergen's post. I thought your 'story about that here' link was about the second photo, not the first.

love them both
and now am enamored with the meteors falling from the sky photo.
:) :) :)

typically great - typically Skj. (you shoudl use that little soundbite on your business card - dont worry, I'll waive the creativity fee :P ;) ;D)

Thanks! I am rather fond of this one myself. I shot it as imagined, and though not too many people dig the content, that we were really under the shadow of an erupting volcano, and were coughing on the grit, makes it a good memory too. But for Ed, it was Asama-yama, and an abandoned gas station on an old resort road into the mountains.

They are marks on the Type-665 print as a result of being well expired, peeled erratically, and left in the sun. I cannot remember the comment, but can remember the ladder. Seriously, it still gets packed when we're off on a shoot, as sometimes, it makes the difference...

The German and I stopped for an early morning cool drink in the mountain mists.

I am thinking I should try and pull together an Apocalypse set now too...

We stood wondering what possibly dark secrets the blackened water obscured.
My only problem is the demise of Type-665! I was paying 2000 yen a pack a few years ago, passed 3000 yen a while ago, and can buy it if lucky from the nice folks on eBay for 5000 yen a pack. Dunno about you folks, but 500 yen a shot (USD5 or there abouts) kinda hurts when you burn three or four packs on a shoot.
Still, if you're gunna go all the way to San Zhi to shoot a subject, another few hundred on film is kinda moot... Such is life. See ya. Skj.

wow... really good results !
I've stopped shooting with polaroids unfortunately, I'm waiting to see what's going to happen with the whole impossible project thing, I still got some films though but nothing that really inspired me to go out and use them...

Skorj that last shot is fantastic and what amazing architecture, I'd LOVE to go there.
Great work.

Thanks! Unfortunately, I think San Zhi resort is now either almost gone, or gone entirely... Pity.
