Just got back from my dentist feeling sorry for myself to find the latest B&W on the doormat. Two names being recognisable. Dave Morrow showing some Holga pics; excuse me whilst I spit here, Holgas do that to me. Nice pics mind, don't know how you managed through plastic. The other, not quite so familiar, is a certain Leon Taylor. Leon presents a very well written article that spares no punches regarding certain film products. Just the way such articles should be. Full marks to Ailsa for printing an honest report, since it will not help product sales.

Yes, this is a great issue. Layout is a bit different and nice with it but the articles and snaps are jsut brill as usual. The work of Mr Watanabe is very inspiring

whoops - did it come across as that damning? :o
oh well, i could only "say it how it is" - and that was how it it was.

:D Spit is better than 'yawn' I guess.
Looking forward to Leon's article when the mag pops through the door.

Don’t worry Dave, it’s me. After too many years of trying, and failing, to squeeze a half decent image through a piece of glass, I can’t get used to the idea that I’ve been wasting my time; I guess it’s an age thing. However I must admit to quite liking your published images, but don’t tell anyone; it could ruin my reputation.
Leon, we need much more honesty and truthfulness in such comparative articles, they are all too rare. If a dog’s a dog, then call it a dog; even if it won’t help sell pet food. Sorry Fido.

Too much cheesecake, I have no sympathy.
Well, almost 'no'. (Feel better soon, Dave)

Aye, nice one, Dave! Well, three actually. Just goes to show, it's not the arrow, it's the archer.
The other, not quite so familiar, is a certain Leon Taylor.
Who?

Articles that praise the product regardless of the facts are no use to man nor beast. Despite this, the damn things pop up all over the place. Tell it like it is, Leon. No point in doing anything else.
I also have to say on the shot with the stone-built structure, the Delta knocks the hell out of the subject film.
Good article. More please.
Also nice to have some accurate data - I'm sure Mike Crawford is an outstanding bloke, but since he assured the world that MGWT did not show a tonal shift in gold toner I haven't been able to trust a word he's written...
Also a quick mention for the great interview by our Susan. It makes me feel that I am fulfilling a useful balancing purpose here at Filmwasters - Just as there no end to your talents, so is there no beginning to mine! ;)

::) Blushing. Thanks Frank. :)
Haven't seen the magazine yet, but Hiroshi is an amazing guy and a fantastic photographer-- it was my honor to interview him.
Glad the article/pics look good.
And can't wait to read Leon's review and see Dave's work. Bravo you guys!

Got back off hols (Seattle, wonderful) to find the new B&W waiting for me and peopled by the cast of Filmwasters. It's wonderful to see so many familiar names in such a superb magazine. The articles are both brilliant and Dave, your work looks great in print.
Congrats to all.

Damn! I gotta wait until the end of the month to see Dave's photos, read Susan's interview, and find out what products Leon trashed... :( Oh well, that's what I get for living on this side of the pond... ;)
