Anyone know where I might get hold of an old film-based foto-finish camera please?
-
what is it?

Tis a camera used for photo-finishes at reaces. for example horse-races and cycle races. Now they are digital but they used to be film.

From memory, these are motorized slit cameras that use 35mm.

Give me a brand, or a model name, and I will happily look in Japan. Assume you're not talking about a Graph Check Sequence like Ed has, but a slit camera as mentioned? Skj.

Many thanks for the offer Mr Skorj but I don't have any names.. and perhaps the postage to here might be a bit much for me. Many thanks for the kind offer tho

You might also want to check out the Cokin slit camera kit. You focus, insert the slit in front of the lens, press the rewind button, open the shutter and wind using the rewind crank... cheap and efficient

Wow, what a fascinating piece. I read it from start to finish.
