Hi All,
I just saw this ad on Craig's List, claiming this Diana for sale is rare:

Is it?

I have always thought Diana clones should be worth more than the original Diana camera. I dont think it is 100 dollars rare though. You may know about this site http://allandetrich.com/diana.htm (http://allandetrich.com/diana.htm) tons of clones listed there. If you are only interested in using it as a shooter, then I would not pay that price. I have only seen a few clones that really go for big bucks. The Playtime Candid Camera was one of the most expensve clones I have seen for sale on eBay. Think it was close to 300 bucks if I am not mistaken.
McKeowns Camera Guide Book 2006 list all the Dianas and her clones at 10-100 dollars US because of its "cult like" following. They believe the price should drop to 10-15 bucks when this trend dies out. (their words)

Is it?
I've seen a few Anny before, so perhaps not...
-
i think it's maybe 40 bucks rare max. i see them on ebay on occasion.
-
Not wishing to gloat but I picked one of these Anny clones up on ebay a few weeks back, boxed and unused for about three pounds! It wasn't badly advertised or anything, just one of those freak occasions where no one else bids and my "not a chance" ?5 max bid won! :)
So going by that, $100 is pushing it a bit !!!
-
not rare - a bit harder to find, but not enough to spend $100 on. As mentioned, they show up on ebay frequently for much less.

Can't get to Craig's List from this PC at work, so haven't checked the camera exactly, but I have an Anny and I doubt that there are many versions so chances are I have this one. Mine is even more basic than most Diana clones and quite luiterally has a shutter release and nothing else. Also, the lens doesn't focus on anything (at all)....so naturally, it's been responsible for some of my strongest recent images (example http://www.filmwasters.com/grabs/index.php?album=30.+July+2008%2FEd&image=Windmill02.jpg).
I bought my Anny off Jim Green about 6 years ago for a few quid; probably ?15.
Value? I wouldn't sell mine for USD100, but I wouldn't buy it for that much either....go figure!
:)

Over the years I have have turned up three here in Oz- at junks shops and the like.
So down here they seem to be amongst the more common clones. Build quality (well perhaps that's not the right word when discussing cheapo injection moulding) not up to that of some
other clones but I've taken some nice pics with them.

think i have had an anny in my time as well, so wouldnt say its rare.

I guess with any purchase it is about how much you want it not so much about how much they are charging. If you want it and have the money and want it $100 worth then it is worth it.
Now if you are buying it in the hope you'll get yur money back at some stage - that's a different matter

I got two Anny's :D
They were not so expensive as this one..
-
Btw, Anny has the viewfinder not in the middle, and it is not corrected...
-
I have an "Anny" that I would sell you for WAY less than $100. That's too much.
