File Magazine Toy Camera contest
Entries accepted from April 24, 2006 until June 15, 2006 at midnight, Pacific Standard Time.
It's a judged contest with prizes.
Thought a few of our plastic folks might be interested.
Here's the link.

Ah, I see you beat me to it, Ms. B! Have to admit that if I won, the first thing I would do would be to rip the lens off the lensbaby and put something extremely crappy in its place... ;-)

I had seen that and will toss over a few. I have a question concerning the submissions form and them asking for, "information about you". Where does one include that as the sub form itself doesn't allow for a description?
I've submitted several images before and have not heard from them one time. I followed the rules, but didn't apply myself and perhaps was turned away because of. I just didn't know where to include it. I'd be upset if I was turned down again. If someone reads this, please let me know...

I love the new design of FILE, good stuff. They are good folk for sure...a few of my toy images find a home there and I am definitely going to submit a couple for the contest.

Beck, the only time you'll hear from the folks at File is if they accept your submission. They apparently get way too many to send rejection notices. And remember, not having any of your photos accepted by them is in no way a reflection of your work which, IMHO, is fantastic. Everyone has different tastes and the guys at File are no exception. I managed to get one photo accepted way back when before I discovered the joys of toycams and homemade shift/tilt lenses. All my submissions to File since then have been shot down more than I can imagine. However, I still submit if I have something I think they might be vaguely interested in. And don't forget that there are other photography webzines that take submissions, like www.mooncruise.com (http://www.mooncruise.com) for example. So keep pluggin' away...
-
Hmm, I sent in a few just now. We shall see. Thanks, Bill. I'll have to take a look at Mooncruise and see what I can conjure up and with a clever bio. My minds fried with the gas drilling up the road. I'm determined to land myself an image...some where. Good luck to everyone who submits work for File...

One of my images accepted to FILE and I didn't recieve a notice. I happened to even know it was there quite by accident looking at one of Tread's images (as mine was right after in the collection). So, Beck, if you submit a few, I would check the collection occassionally to see if one of your images pops up. I have to think that they don't have time to even send notices for acceptance.
I think they have been loading certain types of photography a lot more, and putting things into groups as of late. It's a pretty cool collection of images, and I would even happen to think that they would hold on to a submitted image until it fits with a couple of others in the lineup. Maybe I'm wrong. Keep submitting for sure.

Hey Susan, Glad you shared this...that's my rhino photo on the main page, from my Legoland series...nice of them to not tell me about the contest! I'll submit something...

If you don't hear back, don't let it bother you..
Ya.. they get a ton of submissions, and try to get what the can sorted and
put up. They just put up my beach series on the 'Featured Project' page,
and Beerzie was really good about getting back to me with any questions
I had.. and getting the gallery set up..
And, there has been about a hundred visitors a day on my website from the
link they gave me.. so its worth submitting often!
.. and a great new design as well..

Anyone submit a Lomo LC-A shot for the toycam contest and have it accepted?
A friend of mine sent in some stunners that "didn't fit the theme", and I never heard back regarding my LC-A submissons either.
In the contest details the lomo is included in the def'n of toycam, but I don't see any being accepted nor shown on the contest site.

Just thought I'd mention that the deadline for this competition has been extended until 22nd June
