As it's Armistice/Remembrance/Veteran's Day weekend: each year I find myself thinking about my grandfathers, both of whom as recent immigrants to the US served in WW I. My dad's father, the family photographer of his generation, took photos during basic training here in the States, with a Kodak Autographic Junior. (There was a family legend of his having also taken photos under combat conditions in France, but there were no prints or negatives amongst the things I inherited.) In any event, it's a wistful weekend for me.
The primary image is a scan of the original nitrate negative; the other, a photo of my grandfather's camera before I passed it along to a cousin.

I am carrying on with my efforts to master the salt print process and these are the latest efforts.
I need to finesse my application of the silver nitrate as I am leaving lines, as I drag the puddle pusher across the paper. I think that I'll try with foam brushes next.
I'll have to be more selective with the negatives I develop as well, apparently having a bigger contrast, the better the final image so better note keeping I think

I heard that you can use a spray bottle to do that.
But if you want to use a brush, get a Japanese Hake brush from Aliexpress. Size 3 is 60mm wide.

As I said in the last weekend thread I had been out shooting in some heavy wind along the coast, so here's two shots from that trip.
Chinon CE-3 / Isco-Göttingen Edixa-Westagon 2.0/50 / Rollei Retro 80S in Adox XT-3

I think a foam brush might be a good option. For me foam brushes worked better than more expensive Hake or animal hair brushes.
You will need a lot more material than with the puddle pusher though.

I agree. The hake brushes tend to shed bristles onto your paper and that's no fun. I have had good luck with a cheap home supply paint brush (1.5 inch) if you like to have the brush marks around the edges. Otherwise, mask the edges and use a foam brush. Small 35mm negs are good for practicing technique and exposure.

Here is the Hake brush I got for cyanotypes

I have yet to try it, but it's really well made with stitched bristles and doesn't seem to shed them when I ruffle the bristles.
And for the price, I figured it was worth a try.

Now I have one more thing to learn to do to add to my list 😁
