Title: Weekend - April 12, 13 & 14, 2024
Post by: Bryan on April 13, 2024, 04:38:42 AM
Another trip to American Samoa.  I started an essay on the other Samoa if you haven’t seen it yet.  Contax T with Harman Phoenix 200 exposed at 160.

I didn’t get in this hammock for fear of destroying that Pandanus tree.

Flag day is a big celebration in American Samoa, this was in preparation for the Fautasi races they do as part of it. I wasn’t there for their flag day, it’s in April.  It celebrates the day they became a U.S. territory.  50 people fit in these boats. It was fun watching them get in without tipping it over.  It was leaning pretty good at times, quite a balancing act.

Hi everyone, I found 21 rolls of processed negs/slide film in a cupboard recently and have been going through them slowly during the last week, scanning contact sheets and searching out interesting moments. It's early days so far and they're mostly family snaps made with a Pentax SLR, although there is evidence that I used a homemade lens on some of them (shots 1 and 3 below). Here are a few from the first 2 rolls. All were shot around 2010/2011 on Agfa Ultra 100. The shot of the cross channel ferry was converted to b/w...and TBH, I'm not sure why (even though I only did it 2 days ago) as the original looks pretty cool in colour ;D

Looking at those, it feels like you have some kind of Tardis in your yard 😊

The latest in my series of "wandering around town, looking for something, anything to finish a test roll so it can go to the lab." From a new (to me) Pentax KX, replacing the one I purchased last summer which turned out to be much worse for wear than I had expected. 35/2.8 SMC-M, Fomapan 100.

Two different types of "road" found along the coast here.

Mir / Industar 61 L/D 2.8/55 / Seagull 400 @200 ISO in Rodinal

Manuel!
those are fab and remind me of some of those photos you see in homes in Architectural Digest.
Really nice!
I hope you print them and then hang them on your wall...they deserve to be seen.

Bryan I'd love to watch the tippy board the boat day!

Headless sax player. The last shot on my roll of hand-rolled HP5, so light leaks galore 😁

Thanks a lot Kai and Becky!  :)
Probably will make some Kallitypes of these later.

Great shot!
Looks a bit like what I imagine happens to oboe players when they try to hold a long note.

Squeezing in at the last minute..
harman EZ with some old Arista 100, caffenol, the usual swish swish....

From my road trip to Texas for the Eclipse...no eclipse photos, but I shot six rolls of film! Wasting film in bonafide film-waster style!
This is at the end of my driveway the morning we left....you can't see it, but a propane truck rolled in the ditch, and they had to burn off the extra gas with a flare stack...that small spot of light in the middle of the road is the burner.

2nd roll of Ferrania P33 ^^^ I underexposed a lot of this roll, I think the 160ASA really messed with with my eye-meter which kept trying to think/see in 200ASA.

As you'd probably imagine, Becky, I'm a big fan of this one. I clicked on the link and looked at the full size image to try and work out what was in the middle of the road. I could tell there was some, just not what it was. I've had monochrome IR photos on my mind recently and so I also responded subconsciously to the IR-ness of the light coloured vegetation. It's a lovely shot.

Please don't make me scratch that itch... I've been eyeballing IR pass filters for some time now.  :)
