I've been watching this on Youtube. This film is weird. It's got a purple base and about a 4 stop dynamic range, so be prepared for some contrast.

Thanks, just ordered a few rolls, along with a few other items.  I had a slight bout of GAS when I started looking at lenses on the Blue Moon camera web site.

This is the second announcement on C41 colour film from Harman / Ilford this week. On Wednesday the Ilford Ilfocolor 400 Vintage Tones was announced, it's available on Macodirect: https://www.macodirect.de/film/farbnegativfilm/ilford-ilfocolor-400-vintage-tone-farbfilm-135-24?c=13 (https://www.macodirect.de/film/farbnegativfilm/ilford-ilfocolor-400-vintage-tone-farbfilm-135-24?c=13)
This film is apparently a throwback to the sixties with washed out colours; seems to be related to the films in Ilford single use cameras.

It looks like Ilford is on a roll with new colour films. In the latest issue of the German magazine PhotoKlassik they have an ad for another new colour film, the Ilford Ilfocolor Cinematic Color Film 400 ISO. It's in 35mm 24 exp. rolls, C41 and looks suspiciously like the Ilfocolor 400 Vintage Tones. I found only one shop that sells it, Fotoimpex in Germany. The price is €14.85 or $16.30. Looks like we're gonna have some more choice of colour films, but prices remain high.

I guess that they felt like they could fill a void in the market.
For one, their films are cheaper than kodak's, especially portra. And with Fuji's low production (do they still make anything other than Instax?) And the controversy surrounding Cinestill, they probably managed to be at the right place at the right time.

I like the look of that film more than the Pheonix from the pictures I have seen online, I will have to look to see if it's available in the UK.

Well, I'd be surprised if it isn't as it's manufactured in Mobberely

My gosh! I turn my back on film photography for 10 years and the next thing I know, Ilford makes colour films!! What is the world coming to? Will there be flying cars next?

I think that's already been done too  ;D

But yeah, color from Ilford. I never saw this one coming either.
It was funny because I saw an interview with two of their chemists who made this possible and their lab coats were splashed with a lot of color dye that seemingly will never come off  :)

I am interested to see some results, especially pushed to 800 or 1600 😉 They seem to be charging a fair market price for this film, which means I will not be buying any in the foreseeable future 🤣

I got mine for my birthday back in May...
It's still chilling in the freezer as I haven't had a chance to use it (I instead settled for some long expired Kodak I have in stock... better use this stuff before it becomes unusable as my 200 ISO film is now at 64)

I have shot a few rolls of this and my main take away is DO NOT UNDEREXPOSE!! The film is kind of grainy and contrasty to begin with, but with a little under exposure, the shadows block up and the grain gets wacky. I sometimes like this look, but I expect a bit more latitude from a 200 CN film. This was taken at dusk on a clear day.

This was the same roll earlier in the mid-day sun.

that grain can be rather chunky as you have shown.
I bought a roll from a camera shop in Phoenix, seemed appropriate and shot it with a Holga in hot Phoenix sun.
I'm yet to develop it since my chems are old and I should probably mix us some fresh.
At any rate, thanks for sharing this and depending on what I get, I may buy another roll.

If others have some to share, please show us.

I agree with James on the exposure.  I shared these in a weekend earlier this year.

Oh man, that's disappointing ... I almost always underexpose. I do like the super contrasty look at ISO200 though!

It might turn out to be pretty wild when push processing though... but expect contrast to be even higher.

I've found that push processing in C41 is unnecessary. Results from 400ISO @ 1600 developed in C41 for the recommended 3:15 and at 5:00 are essentially the same in my experience. Generally this is using fresh Kodak Gold 400.

Might not be as useful as it used to be when everything was darkroom printed like you say.
But it will crank-up the contrast and the weird color casts that's for sure.

I've got a roll of found photos I plan on developing. Since I don't know how long it's been sitting in the camera, I plan on pushing it 1 stop. But I don't know if it's a good idea. It is a roll of Kodak Gold Plus 100... I don't even remember when these were made!
