: It's the weekend! 14-16th January 2022
: LEAFotography January 14, 2022, 04:58:36 PM
Work has finished for another week so I'm starting the weekend here  ;D

I'm really encouraged by the CineStill C41 kit I started using just before Christmas. I made up half the kit (against the instructions, and risky if the powders weren't adequately mixed) as I wasn't sure how quickly I'd be able to use the two parts, nor how well they would keep.

The kit claims to be able to develop 8 films (135x36 shots or the equivalent) from the full one litre each of developer and blix. In the end I managed to develop 16 films from the first half of the kit (9 rolls of 135x36, 3 rolls of 135x24, and four rolls of 120). I mixed the chemicals on 18th December last year and kept the developer and blix in full, sealed 500ml old fruit juice jars, adjusting development time a little as I did more and more.

I think it's now time to retire this first batch...the negatives from the final film (respooled 135 Reala 500D shot over the summer) as they were pretty thin. But the scans came out fine, with a touch of "fading correction". My software gives the option of None, Low, Medium, and High and I used "Low"...am I right in thinking this function just increases the saturation of the colour?

Anyway, here's a couple of shots from a blazing day over the summer, to remind me that the 0c temperatures outside won't last forever!

Have a good weekend everyone!

As a winter storm approaches, I will happily support the summer theme.

Definitely. Extreme cold, 2 days without internet due to some failure by my ISP, now more cold before a big storm for Monday... very fun times.

Summer is nice, but I would not want to live in a place without seasons. When you have braved the cold and the wind for a couple of hours and can return home with a roll of film to process, that feels really good!  :)

Hi!
I've been reading a lot about the history of the infrastructure of water distribution in Madrid.
I've discovered a wonderful photographer of the XIX century that illustrated the working progress of one of the main achivements of that works, the "Canal de Isabel II", circa 1860.

I've decided to follow his steps ;-) No, really, but ...

As Madrid grew, it needed more water. More infrastructures were needed. So, the "Canal del Jarama" was build. The Jarama river is one of the main water currents in Madrid. Several dams were raised in the mountains ridges near the capital, and many waterways ("canales)" were built to carry the water from these dams to Madrid.

I took this photographs near one of the most beautiful villages in Madrid, Patones de Arriba. But what caught my eye this time were the pipes and auxiliary buildings of the "Canal del Jarama".

That's some old infrastructure Antonio, is it still in use?

A few shots from yesterday at a park near my home.  The sun came out so I had to take advantage of this rare opportunity.  Olympus OM-1 using an F. Zuiko 50mm f/1.8 lens.  The film is Kodak Spectrum Analysis film 5367, no.1 expired 4/1981.  Developed in Kodak HC-110 dilution F for 10 minutes with Benzotriazole.  The first one is a 1 minute exposure and the second one is a 2 minute exposure.  I'll put more photos and explanations in this thread: https://filmwasters.com/forum/index.php?topic=10338.0 (https://filmwasters.com/forum/index.php?topic=10338.0)

Lets just say that this morning with the windchill factor at -31°C, it's not exactly fun to go outside.

Some actual redscale from the stsh at the back of the cupboard. These must be 4 or 5 year old negs judging from when I can remember shooting them.
35mm home rolled redscale in I would guess the OM1

Love this series Antonio - a lot of character in these buildings and landscape!

This one was taken recently with my Minolta SRT 101, 20mm lens and Kodak Tmax 400.

I always find it funny when I see roman infrastructure still in use after all this time, especially when I think about the latest sewer collapse we had on our street.

Romans: Lets build for 1000 years.
Quebeckers: It should be good for at least 5 years.

And let's put enough glue in there so that it's impossible to repair.

It's still the weekend in the States (thanks, Dr. King!) so I'm well within my rights posting here 😉 I got another piece of Irv's magic Agfa Vista 100 film, this time shot at 1000 (the fastest my Contax T gets). I seriously can't believe this film. At 100 it's perfect, at 400 it has some minor but easily correctible color shifts, and at 1000-1600 it loses all blues (and here, greens too!) but still captures all the details you need from the scene 😁 I'm totally shooting this stuff between 400-1600 from now on 😂

Thanks again, Irv!!! 💖
