Happy Birthday!

The UK went into lockdown a few days before my birthday so while that scuppered having friends round to drink beer and eat cake, I made myself a cake and we all went on skype to drink beer and talk nonsense.

Beer good!

Thanks :)

I did get myself a free library membership on archive.org
This is really fantastic! You can borrow eBooks and they have a TON of photography related books!
Over 3,000 are available. I'm now at page 31 and I don't know how much more there is.

I never realised archive.org had all these books available. I've just signed up myself. BUT, I'm totally confused how to find books on a given subject. I seem to end up with endless books listed that aren't actually in the library.

Care to give me some clues Francois?

Having said that, by some accident I found two books of interest that don't seem to be in the library but they were available for free download as a pdf. So that's confused me even more.

It must be my age.

I clicked on the filter button on the left and went through the pages until I found photography.
If you use the link I posted it should all be selected.
Once you open a book, it will be in preview mode. You need to press borrow book on top of the preview to actually view it all.
There's also at that time the possibility of downloading a drm protected copy using Adobe digital editions.

BTW Pete, PM me I have something for you.

Hope you had a nice birthday Francois, given the circumstances. Wish you all the best!
My father and my father in law had their birthdays in March and April while we were in full lockdown. We had a video call with some cup cakes and coffee, but it was really a bit sad not to be able meet - especially for our daughter not to be able to give their grandparents a hug. As addult you can rationalize the situation, but for young children it is quite difficult.

Thanks Manuel.

Your story reminds me of something I read in the paper.
We have in the province a granny who invented something. She used a shower curtain and invented a way to safely wear it while having it go higher than her head. And then she made some arm pockets for her and her grandkid. That way she can receive and give hugs safely. After use she disinfects the thing before taking it off.
I know it's a bit weird but it gets the job done.
