: Is anyone here familiar with the Impact 707 (toy?) Camera??
: gothamtomato March 05, 2020, 01:18:41 AM
Hi all,

In clearing out my mom's house, I found a case of these cameras in the garage, all new and still in their boxes. It seems to be similar to the (maybe) the Diana. I've never heard of them before. Has anyone here used one?

Sorry the pic is upside down.

The same toy camera came under many names. The start was probably the 'Time Life' camera offered as a premium for those who subscribed to the magazine. I think no matter the name, they were mostly all 'premium' gifts for various sales campaigns. The specifications were usually the same, f6 single element lens that had a wedge aperture to f16. Curved film channel, approx. 1/100 fixed shutter, fixed focus, film wind on via wheel protruding from back. There should also be a dead weight inside in the bottom to add some heft to the camera. Oh yes, a hot flash shoe.

I have one with the name 'Capital MX-II' that looks the same. The hand grip is a little longer but otherwise they appear nearly identical. Never tried mine out.

Do you know if the lens is glass or plastic? Can it be considered a toy camera?

Thanks!

It's definitely a plastic lens.
I've had a few different models of similar cameras.
The ones with the wedge aperture tend to be very fuzzy at infinity.
There are some models that use two sliding plates for aperture. I haven't tried those
I also heard that the original Time Life camera was one of the better ones.
I know that Marcy Merrill did a review of them on her junkstorecameras website.

ooh, so cool!  8)
Probably plastic.
Are you going to sell any of them?

Does kind look like a Time/Life camera.

I think this camera was big in Australia at one time.

I think this is the question on everybody's mind ;) I'm in Queens, so I could do a local pickup :)

Apparently, it's only people in the northern hemisphere that believe that.

Yes, I just have to figure out how and how much (unless I decide to hoard them in a Corona Virus panic 8))

Put me on your list for one if you do decide to sell.
Thanks
