All of those are lovely.  I ran through 10 packs of polaroid film in my SX-70 last month.  What a joy.  :)

The only thing I question is the photographer saying, 'I loved the format, but there's no use for it any more, sadly.'

It seems like the fact that The Observer published the photos says that there IS still a use for them. There will always be a use for any format when it is used to create interesting photographs.
