127 film
« on: November 27, 2014, 04:48:52 PM »
Not sure if this has been mentioned before....
but Freestyle Photo in California has 127 film.
It's pricey, but just wanted to put it out there for those that use or need some.

Sigh....127; just another aspect of photography that I should be doing more of. I still have a decent number of 127 films in my fridge, but I haven't used it for years. Doh!

Great to know it's still on sale somewhere :-)

Now that the kids are grown-up, what you need to do is get that Coronet Commander back out of the cupboard ;)

This what i found for 'fresh 127' in Europe;  Fotoimpex is "derzeit ausverkauft (Voraussichtlich lieferbar am 08.12.2014)". The date is changing every day. Got a reply from Ilford Belgium/ Netherlands yesterday: "no 127 or 220 film format " :(

For the past two years as part of their ULF special order, Ilford has offered 50-foot rolls of 46mm HP5 Plus. If you have enough backing paper and spools, it's easy peasy to roll your own 127.

Sorry Rolo, what is a ulf order, and how do you get in on things like this? I would do 127 if I could roll my own.

Do they do bulk 120 in a way that makes is worth rolling your own?

Once a year, Ilford does a special run of odd formats that apparently began as a run of ultra-large format (ULF) sheet film.  It has developed into a production of odd rollfilm sizes as well, including 127.  Sometime in late winter they will put out a call for orders.  You need to be vigilant because they do a really poor job of publicizing it.  The cutoff is usually in late spring, and delivery usually happens in September or October.  The rollfilm is sold in bulk quantities, so you'd need to roll your own.

That's cool Terry. If someone could post here about it when it happens, I would appreciate it. I roll my own 35 and would certainly be interested in at least doing the math with the other formats.

If you go to the Ilford website and click on the 'promotions' link it should come up.  The 2014 link is still there.

Correction: click on 'products' then 'promotiions'.

I looked at buying some of the Ilford 127 this year but it was just a bit too pricey for me. I don't shoot a great deal so it would have been fine if I shared with someone.

Hey Nigel, off hand do you remember what sort of price they were wanting?

Hi Don, I think this is an old page they forgot to take down. 50ft is £118.73.

http://www.ag-photographic.co.uk/hp5-46mm-x-50ft-roll-x28127-formatx29-3468-p.asp

I need to do this in metric.  :) 50ft is 15,240mm, a 127 film is 650mm, so you'd get 23.4 films from a batch. Therefore £5.07 / roll ($9.06 Canadian) excluding shipping. I'd be happy to pay that per roll I just didn't want to pony up £118.00 all in one lump. Maybe next year I'll see if someone wants to split a roll.

They just started putting minimums on some of these odd size films; it would be good to club together and make sure they get enough orders to do a run of 127.
